Redeveloped in 2007, the market square sits in front of the impressive Council House.
The addition of paved fountain jets and a reflective pool attracts visitors in the summer and kids love the fountains.
Numerous events take place here during the year including exhibitions, food festivals, a Christmas ice rink and space to sit in the centre of the city. Tram stops next to the square so good transport links to north and south of the city.
Such a lively area of the city on a daily basis. The heart of Nottingham, there is always something going on here. It is hard to miss when you visit Nottingham. I love how you can have such a large and lively area in the middle of a city.
Show more...The Old Market Place is a really nice square in the centre of Nottingham. It is served by buses and trams from the suburbs.
When I visited there was a fair there for the summer holidays. It's also very close to the shopping area.
There are lots of restaurants on the edge of the square and there are places to sit and relax and enjoy the weather and the view.
After visited the Christmas Market pre covid we were looking forward to coming into the city this year. After travelling some distance we arrived and were extremely disappointed, they were a small number of market and food stalls on offer, didn't take long to explore. Although the event is free I wouldn't be rushing back and wouldn't recommend. A wasted 180 mile round trip.
Show more...What a fabulous weekend in Nottingham's Market Square. We spent the day there yesterday, They have live music on & loads of craft stalls & Street food. On a sunny day it was a pleasure to stroll round & enjoy the activity. It us still on Today & we can highly recommend this venue.
Show more...Fabulous after such a challenging time to be able to enjoy the Xmas festivities in the square. Variety of stalls , lots of choice to grab food , and a few rides and bars which all add up to a really enjoyable few hours . Missed the ice rink tho ….
Show more...The beach at the square in summer is great, with fairground rides, stalls and bars selling drinks and burgers etc. Did lose my shoes on the beach when I went to get ice cream so ended up barefooted for the day and home on the bus🙄to some strange looks. Apart from that I had a great day. I did go a few years ago but the drop down menu only goes back to 2020.
Show more...it looked nice and clean on a sunny day but apart from the opposing city hall and the fountains there is very little to see.
there are shops and restaurants surrounding the square however some have unfortunately closed.
i wouldn't rush back to the area personally although i believe the Christmas market is great.
Having never visited Nottingham before we stepped off the tram and this was the first thing we saw. I was impressed how clean and well presented this area is. Later as we sat eating our pack lunch it was great to watch the world go by

We all loved the ice bar it was really well built the ice sculptures were amazing
I've seen some say about price but we had booked the premium drinks package for the ice bar online and thought it was actually a decent price.
We got there in morning but by early afternoon it really picked up. Live music was amazing, great atmosphere.
The girls liked the skating especially the sky skate
And the stores and the market area just looked amazing especially all lit up at night.
