It's a v nice park. It's free at the moment but does say it cost 5 pounds. Fantastic drive. Quiet narrow and steep. As u finish the one way system the road gets wider. Just be careful as u will approach a split in the road with two trail arrows saying go left. Do not go left as its a dead end and dangerous reverse. Stay on on the straight road and u will exit beside the pub

Going by the local myths of local druids the mountain is seen and always known from the Meigh side a least as the Sleeping Dragon. Many druids used to do ceremony there back in the 70s and 80s referring to the mountain as such. It would be more culturally relevant for the kids to enjoy the real Dragon myth of the area rather than the made-up Giants Lair trail no doubt inspired in a board room the other side of the mountain. Myth is in the perspective. Take a look from the Killeavy side I reckon and all will make sense. Every American I point the Dragon out to see it right away. No Giant I'm afraid. But lovely walk. Great Art and the kids loved it.

We have family who love nearby and have visited before, but have never done the forest trail until this visit.

Really nice little trail, not too rough for a buggy. Our little 14MO little boy was so intrigued by what he saw, he really enjoyed it.

Although our experience was slightly frazzled by some kids who ran wild with no consideration for other people (their parents just didn’t really care). For anyone else visiting, please consider other people who have also stopped at the different areas and ask your children to not run wild.

So impressed with this place came across it by accident. The park is perfect for a family day out. Kids would've stayed in the playground all day but we ventured into the Giants Liar which lead to the Fairy Kingdom. Everyone loved it from start to finish . Bring a picnic toilet facilities are immaculate. When it's time to head home take the drive that's goes behind the park. This will take you up Slieve Gullion amazing views at the top.

Wonderful treks, great cafe and facilities. Take the one way road around the park after visiting, it's a wonderful drive. Try keeping all four tires on the road at one time-haha.

Went to Slieve Gullion on a cold winters but dry day. The fairy walk was spectacular, very beautiful. The winters colours adding a new dimension to the beauty. Would tally recommend the walk. We then drove up the top, or near to the top of Slieve Gullion, the scenery is stunning, the weather cold but just added to the beauty and scenery. A gorgeous area.

Half 2 in the afternoon couldn't decide where to go, last minute decision to drive to Slieve Gullion and do the giants lair trail, chucked a few snacks into a bag and set off. Easy drive straight up the motorway and easy to find, plenty of parking spaces, maps given from the information hut and set off on the trail with our 2 year old. She absolutely loved looking at all the little fairy houses and running from one bit to the next, stopped halfway round and sat on some tree stomps had our picnic and set off again, it's laid out fantasticly and very easy to follow. We loved the wooden walk halfway around and at the end there's a fantastic play park with tunnels and zip lines and slides. When we were ready to leave we noticed a sign saying forest drive so we followed it and were so glad we did it took us right up the mountain on a one way drive, the views were absolutely fantastic and we had cows and sheep in the field right next to us that we got out to look at and also had a few goats on the trail that we had to wait on crossing the path infront of us, much to our toddlers delight. At the end of the path there's a split in the road and the arrow points up the hill to the left - don't follow this as it leads to a house and then a dead end and it's a nervous reverse down the track. If you go straight ahead at the split you end up back on the road that leads you to the forest so we headed on home from here

This place is an absolute gem that a lot of people don't know about This place has a magical experience for young children and beautiful walks that interlink with the mystical stories a long the way. There is a big playground, toilets, cafe and eating facilities on premises, with picnic areas also present. This is one of the most beautiful parks we have ever experienced and its FREE!! Alot of forest/park attractions should take inspiration from the park as it is evident they are family orientated. Not to mention the beautiful scenery it offers! Couldn't fault this place even a little bit 100% recommend!
