Narrow Water Castle is a truly magical venue for a wedding. Originally built in 1816, by Thomas Duff, a well known architect, it is the home of the Hall family who have lived at Narrow Water since 1670. The estate extends to over 700 acres, and is a beautiful setting, overlooking Carlingford Lough and the Cooley Mountains.
Show more...Great for history buffs. On a very busy road but there is a lay by you can park in. Not open every day so check in advance It is owned by the National Trust and is free to enter. Loads of legend boards to give the history .
Show more...Stopped a few times just to reflect on the history of the place. Pity it's beside a busy dual carriage way. Not a lot of ground around it.
I also reflected on the useless waste of life when soldiers were massacred in a bomb attack and an innocent man was subsequently shot in the panic when he came down a lane across the waterway to see what had happened.
This is not a political review and I pray for all including the persons who planned and did the deed.
Just stop and reflect on its past and recent history.
God bless.
I think this is mislabeled on trip advisor. Many of the great reviews were about STAYING at the castle. Possibly this is true, but our family was looking for something to DO like walk the grounds.
It was marked for residents only so we turned around and just left.
no one seemed to be available to answer any questions, but yet, everywhere seemed to be off limits
Show more...What a stunning place overlooking the port of Warrenpoint and nestling amidst the Mourne Mountains its one of the must visit places and you will not be dissapointed in the splendor of this castleThe Castle itself is beautifully decorated and retains its natural carachters and the view from each and every window is spectular..

Show more...This apartment is totally amazing, lush and very grand.
On arrival the host,Ramona, gives you a very warm welcome and a quick run down on where everything is and how it all works;amenities, internet, games, tourist information etc. But as a guest one is immediately overwhelmed by the grandure and instantly feels regal as if they belong to the aristocracyespecially on the grounds of Narrow Water Castle itself!
I held an event in the castle on St Patricks Day, so for me and my guest it was imperative for us to stay on the grounds. The scenery is a patchwork quilt of fields, lawns, forests and mountains from north and south of Ireland looking out onto Carlingford Lough and the Clanrye river leading into Newry Ship canal. We even watched huge cargo ships arrive in Warrenpoint docks. Breathtaking! !
This place is totally amazing and I recommend you visit at least once in your lifetime.
Ramona is an amazing person too and has a real flare for decor and comfort. Stay here once and you will definitely be back for more
Thank you Ramona,we love your apartment!!
(Unfortunately I did not take any photos of the apartment so you will have to find out for yourself but shhh,we don't want everyone to know about this stunning location)
We arrived to see the Wedding fayre.
This was well planned and an enjoyable experience.
The one thing that let it down was the accessibility. My mother, suffering from Leukaemia, found the amount of stairs difficult to traverse.
The staff were friendly and helpful and very good craic.
A fabulous place to visit and spend a few hours.

Having just celebrated our Ruby Wedding anniversary, we were looking for somewhere to use as a base for walking, touring and relaxation. Narrow Water Castle gave us everything and much more in spades. The apartment dates back to the 1600s and has been very lovingly restored by Marcus Hall. The apartment is very well appointed and boasts the most comfortable beds. There is plenty to do here for couples and families alike with trampoline, tree swing and a terrific zip line!! We were spoiled with a covered outdoor kitchen and barbecue complete with firepit to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. Ramona really made sure we had a good time and wanted for nothing. We will definitely be back.
