Show more...Went for a double date as it had been recommended. Looked nice, surprisingly expensive but was looking forward to a new experience. We requested for the barriers to be up on arrival and we told they had been put up. We began playing and ordered our drinks and the ball kept going in the gutter. We asked for the barriers to be put up and we were told they were up. After asking 5 times I went up to the front desk and asked for them to come and have a look. Finally the member of staff said that they must not be working, and walked away. She rolled her eyes at me when I said it wasn’t acceptable, I asked if we could possibly have another round as we had wasted our time. She was rude and condescending but went to speak to the manager. All we were offered was free round of drinks but I explained that the price of a free round of drinks was no where near what the price was for the 4 of us to play. We were told we would be given a refund after much persistence, but we have still not received any refund!
Show more...I went here with friends and whilst we had a great time bowling and playing cider pong, I cannot recommend eating here if you are coeliac or have other allergies.
There was gluten free garlic pizza bread on the menu which I ordered. When it arrived, I checked it was gluten free and the server said no so I sent it back.
Half an hour later they brought a new one over, I asked again if it was gluten free and it was confirmed that it was. 20 minutes later, (by which point, I had eaten over 3/4 of the pizza), a server came over to let me know that I'd been given the wrong one and it wasn't the gluten free one.
He went on to say that the normal bases didn't contain gluten (which I didn't trust so asked to see the ingredients), the first ingredient was wheat flour so obviously not gluten free. I asked to speak to a manager who said that she "wasnt an expert so didnt know that wheat flour was gluten and that their allergy guide stated that the normal pizza base was gluten free." So the allergy information onsite is incorrect.
Although she said that staff would be retrained, this is a huge issue and I was extremely unwell.
I was told that they would find the food order on the system and issue a refund but that was nearly 3 weeks ago and it still hasn't been received.
Absolutely shocking service. If I could give a 0 I would. I am not one to complain or moan but In this case I just had to.
We pre booked and visited for a family members birthday who travelled from Bristol.
On arrival we were told our lanes were not ready and to get a drink at the bar which we did. Once we were eventually served we went back over to be told we were ‘late’ and now only had the lane for approx 30 minutes to finish a game for 8 people.
One of the lanes had broken so the group could not even finish their game. We raised a complaint with the team to be told the lanes always break and it’s a common issue.
I left my card details to be given a refund as agreed which was a month ago with no refund made. I have left emails and calls with no response from the team.
If you want to pay the best part of £100 for a game of bowling you won’t get to play the duration of to then be told they will happily refund you as they can see it’s their issue and then don’t, then this is the place for you.
Utter joke - As soon as we got in there a waitress with black hair that was walking around constantly kept asking us if we wanted drinks and shots. She was relentless. In the end I gave in ordered two san miguel. Then had to wait ages then another woman brought over 2 Roxy pints and 1 san miguel. I said that only ordered 2 san miguel. I went and found the waitress that took the order. She swore blind I had order 3 pints even though we were only 2 people. And talked to me like rubbish. Bloodily rude. Pestered for an order and when she got one got it wrong. Crazy pool was ok but had two large groups in-front of us and just took ages. In the end we just gave up.
Show more...Terrible—don’t go here, there are many other activities in Digbeth that are better run, with professional staff who care about their customers.
This place seems to take no notice of pre-booked food and drinks, refused to serve us food even though it had been paid for weeks in advance, and when we raised concerns staff were condescending, rude and unprofessional. They simply didn’t care. It’s not a good look to literally laugh in someone’s face when they ask you to provide the food they’ve already paid for.
Like another reviewer here has said, if you can’t cope with large bookings for Christmas, it’s really time to cut your losses and move on. I would not recommend this place to anyone, not even my worst enemy.
Avoid at all costs.
We came here, as part of a Stag Do. We booked pool and Shuffleboard (thought it would be interesting). We got there, and they have a wide selection of beers on tap, however on 2 ciders on tap (magners or magners dark fruit)
The pricing was reasonable.
Pool table were good, nice and level.
Shuffleboard was great fun, everyone really enjoyed it. It did come with an allergy warning, unfortunately I can’t remember what it was, is just remember it was some form of nut
You could also book, tenpin bowling, beer pong and table tennis.
Would definitely recommend it for a friends day out or birthday.
I'd planned a Birthday surprise for my boyfriend /our family's meeting for the first time, a fun evening of games that turned terrible from the start. Me and my boyfriend were met by an extremely rude bouncer on the door, I was asked if I had a booking and I said yes, showing my booking on my phone. He asked if I had ID, I unfortunately didn't on this occasion as I was driving and wasn't drinking. He refused us entry and completely humiliated me in front of my boyfriend and completely ruined his Birthday surprise and family meet up evening.
At this point me and my boyfriend left to try and arrange what we do. I then had to tell him the surprise and that my family and his family were coming also so this completely ruined the surprise. Our family all met outside the venue and we went back to he bouncer and I asked if I can speak to the manager inside the building and he argued with me and eventually let us all in.
OK arrival inside All the staff were rude to us the whole evening, service was slow and appalling.
I heard many people in the saying how slow the service is and how rude the staff are.
Nothing on the email confirmation said about needing ID just to get in the Ballroom! I get needing ID to have an alcoholic drink but just to get in the venue that I paid for a booking is an absolute joke. Maybe tell people they need ID before let arrive!!!
Also I'm 32 years ago! No one in the group was younger then that.
I would never ever go back to this place or any of the Roxy locations again!
Avoid this place like the plague! Terrible experience!
Very disappointing experience. Booked to play bowling and were refused entry because we had no ID. We are all over 30 with photo ID on our phones but were flat out refused entry because of policy. I agree places need age restrictions, but with a challenge 25 policy and it being very evident we were over 25, surely some discretion. Very rude security with appalling people skills. Real shame we made the special trip there. Manager did the honourable thing supporting her staff but surely this needs addressing… Perhaps a message when booking?
Show more...I’ve been to Roxy’s before and it’s been great but last night was horrific. Wait times for drinks was about half an hour each time. They put one trainee bar maid on to serve everyone at the bar, while the others all attended to the tickets on the side completely ignoring the fact the bar was full of people. May I add this was a Saturday night too, where is the logic here from the managers? Staff would come round on tablets asking if you wanted a drink but that was taking far to long so we would have to go up and wait even longer at the bar. There was a red hair girl who was very rude to customers and another girl with dark black hair just walking back and fourth in a Nike coat just ignoring the fact loads of people were stood at the bar. I just don’t understand how management let this stand. The service was so bad just ruined the whole night and we couldn’t wait to play the games and leave.
Show more...Roxy Lanes Birmingham Digbeth is open:
Absolutely appalling service - booked for our world Christmas party, the venue was absolutely freezing, very limited choice on the drinks vouchers and shocking service from the managers who basically shrugged their shoulders when they were unable to fulfil our food order - already paid for under our package - leaving a 6 month pregnant colleague without food at 8.30pm.
Show more...We were then forced to try to find somewhere to eat on the busiest Christmas night out of the year. Appalling. We will be requesting a full refund and compensation. If Roxy Ballroom cannot cater for Christmas parties with a basic food order then it’s really time to give up. I’d give it a miss
