I found myself with an hour to spare in Newry and decided to visit the nearest church to light a candle . I happened on the Cathedral and was totally spellbound by the size and magnificence of the building. .
The intricate mosaic tile patterns that adorn the walls , columns and floor are stunning the mosaics of the saints are lovely. The altar and stained glass windows behind it at the end of the central aisle are a fitting focal point in the church.
A visit to this peaceful ornate church is definitely worthwhile.

As a native of Newry, and lived here more than 60yrs, I've been in and passed by The Cathedral many many times. Yet it was when a friend and his wife were visiting from Derry, and their reaction did I realise the beauty-architechure, mosaic, statues, and overall presence I had been missing for so long.

Really prominent cathedral that is well off the main road in Newry. Traditional design and Elaborate tower. Great spot to get some photos. Parking close. Worth a visit.

A beautiful Cathedral, well maintained. Highly recommend to any visitors. The stained glass windows are stunning but my favourite spot has always been the pulpit. The stone structure on the right as you walk down the middle aisle is a beauty to behold. I often look at it and wonder what sermons of yesteryear would have sounded like coming from this imposing structure.
The steps leading up to the front doors are fabulous and many a beautiful wedding photo has been taken on these steps.
The Cathedral always has several people wandering about it or kneeling in prayer but no noise can be heard. I have loved this beautiful building since childhood.

The Cathedral is not only a place of worship but a beautiful building as well. On 26th May I attended an excellent concert by Newry Community Choir conducted by Dominic Wadsworth..
An evening to remember and a chance to become a member.

Beautiful architecture, mosaics and stained glass window. A place of worship or somewhere to go and just enjoy the silence away from the rush of modern life.
