The museum is scattered throughout the castle grounds. We spent about three hours looking around, great value at around £6.50 for entry. We opted not to have the audio guide, but this was not necessary as all of the signs are in English and Turkish. The artefacts are both many and in fantastic condition, and the accompanying information was illuminating. Artefacts range from 9th Century AD to 1500 BC. In a place with so much rich history this place is well worth a look. Highly recommended.

Museum entry price is expensive: we/I have visited numerous archeological museums worldwide incl. Turkey, but this is rip-off. In addition, you have to pay inside the museum an additional entry to see the "ancient glass" part of the museum. Exhibited objects nice, but of medium quality considering the region. Looks like the museum has adapted itself to the Bodrum-rip-off attitude asking high prices also for culture.

A not very big museum housed by a few different halls placed inside the Bodrum castle's walls. The access fee is included in the castle ticket and is 65TL. You'll see mostly ceramic and glass objects, amphorae, a few epears and other weapons, all discovered on several wrecks in the Aegean Sea.

Understated Castle with an amazing history. The underwater archaeology is stunning in itself. The amphorae, glassware and ingots show how advanced people were at the time. The princess with gold jewellery is incredible especially when you see her skeleton in the sarcophagus nearby. Top tip - these rooms are air conditioned 😉. The views from the castle are wonderful too.

Very interesting museum.
The museum is located in Bodrum Castle and offers amazing views of the city and the see.
Items are very well displayed.
Internal gardens are beautiful.
Only flaw the museum has not lifts and buggies must be left at the entrance.
So, if you have small kids, be ready to carry them up and down the castle stairs.

If you are a treasure hunter, antiquities buff or just love ships, this museum is a real treat. We take for granted that Hollywood stunts or Science wizards can find and raise these ships easily. The exhaustive research, innovation and sheer number of dives had us in awe.

Nice museum to give you a short history of how Bodrum was owned by different countries in past centuries before it became Turkish. Secret stars of the show are the beautiful peacocks who are very photo genetic. Also because the Fort is so high you get nice views from Bodrum from above and the kids took lots of pictures with the statutes without heads pretending it's their body. Clean toilets etc, nice inside areas (with air condition) also with explanations in English.

We visited in August 2023.

Pros:
Children under 12 are free.
The mock up of the Bronze age ship wreck is interesting, but it's not clear whether it's original or reconstruction.
It's easy to find as is near the marina, in the castle.
There are toilets there.

Cons:
Very little for young children. Lots of pots to look at.
Site is very open, and very hot.
Entry is expensive: around £15 for an adult.
You have to pay extra for some of the exhibits (including those which feature heavily in the photo reviews here!)
Took us 35 minutes to do the whole site.

We visited the museum and the castle on our own while our cruiseskip stopped in Bodrum. Both were very interesting. The museum is in different small buildings with aircondition and info in English. Very interesting. Beautiful displays of glass and gold found in the ship wrecks. Also suitsble for children.

Really well curated collection of the various artefacts from shipwrecks stretching back to 1300 BCE right the way up to a few centuries ago. Pricey but in the most beautiful setting of Bodrum Castle (along with its Crusade history and subsequent mosque, so that shows how well that fortress did ultimately!) Slow starter but I was delighted we stayed with it!
