Show more...Attended to watch Ghost Stories. The theatre itself is a grand building with lots of period features including an amazing chandelier. It was a great place to host the show and really fitted with the story. The view from the seats was great. The only downside was the leg room. We were sitting on the front row of the upper circle and as a 6ft stocky man it was uncomfortable at times with no room to manoeuvre. Apart from that I would definitely watch another show here.
Show more...We attended on Saturday 29th February and both thoroughly enjoyed the whole performance. The cast were brilliant and extremely professional. This was part of my wifes 60th birthday present package from me and I was extremely pleased with it as she had a really lovely time.
Show more...I’ve seen 2 shows in the last couple of weeks. Everbody’s talking about Jamie which was stupendous and left me with jaw ache as I couldn’t stop grinning for the first 30 minutes. The second was an amateur performance of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang which was really good.
The thing I seriously did not like though was the leg room in the upper circle which is where I was both times. I’m only 6 foot of normal proportions but it was so bad that the bottom of my right kneecap was resting on the back of the square wooden chair in front of me as there was just no room to get my legs behind the chair. The chap in front then used my knee as a headrest, lol. Two other people had the same problem sitting in different locations on this floor. My daughter is 5’ 6” and could just get her legs behind the seat if her bottom was pushed all the way back. She is quite slim though.
I know it’s an old theatre but this is a long way from being acceptable and something should be done about it, or they should charge a max of £10 a seat there.
Couldn’t complain about the view and sound though.
Perhaps a bit if a refurb is in order as looking a little tired as well.
The shows were so good though hence the high scores.
Visited Nottingham for Katherine Jenkins concert during her Covid delayed UK 2021 tour.
Her voice did not disappoint and the venue is perfect for a grand yet intimate concert experience.
We were a little disappointed there was only a quartet and piano accompanying her which could not produce a greater sweeter sound that a larger orchestra could.
That said, the venue attracts many international artists and performances to rival London and other major UK cities.
Previous visits for Josh Groban, Celtic Woman and the Halle Orchestra were equally impressive concert experiences for us. We love this venue as the UKs premium go to concert hall to rival bigger UK venues. As a Leeds resident we would rather spend time in Nottingham for so many other reasons (but the impressive tram system, nightlife and attractions) infinitely better than living in Leeds area.
Every visit to Nottingham has been a wonderful leisure experience- keep up the good work…we will keep coming back for more.
Just saw Paul Chowdhry, 2,000 people wearing masks going in, on the inside 1,800 people not wearing masks. Three hours in a closed room with 1,800 without masks and no messages about masks, how is this legal?
Paul was very quick to point out those in the audience using their phones to film or take photos but ignored all the people without masks on - not funny. I won't go to see Paul or go to the RCH again. Shame.
We went here to see a comedian and the act was good but the venue could do with a bit better organisation. Seating is tight but not cramped, the getting in and finding my way to my seat was straight forward. The bar was small and busy but they should set out the lines they want people to stand in so it’s easier to get in and out.
Show more...The play, Fatal Attraction was great!
The seats however were not. We were on the fourth row from the front in the stalls. The seats on this row are LOWER than the first three rows, work that out?! So basically you are lower down looking up at the row in front.
But worse than that, the seats are SO CRAMMED. You are literally shoulder to shoulder with the stranger sat next to you. Not great in the current circumstances. The seats are tight, and Im an average sized person, saw some bigger people struggling to fit into the seats. Are these the original seats from Victorian times? It felt like it.
Also, absolutely no padding left in the seats, flat as pancakes. I saw just about everyone shifting around in their seats throughout the whole play trying to get comfortable. It puts me off going there again. Its SO uncomfortable and SO tight next to the next person, not good.
Its about time they upgraded the seating, keep all the original features but please, make the seats a little bigger, more padding and spaced out a little more.
I visited Nottingham's Theatre Royal last month, to see "Blood Brothers" and had a very enjoyable time. The play was extremely well acted, the acoustics and sound were excellent and the style/decor of the theatre is gorgeous. Stepping into the auditorium is like going back to a more elegant period of time, with exquisite Corinthian pillars, a beautiful chandelier in the centre of the ceiling and walls and balconies painted in an extremely classy shade of army green. The only reason I'm not giving full quota of points is because I sat at the edge of the auditorium and the view was VERY slightly restricted, but it wasn't a major problem and there was a warning of this when I booked the ticket. Overall, a wonderful theatre and a very enjoyable play.
Show more...We went to see Sir Ranulph Fiennes give an excellent talk on his experiences. He is an entertaining speaker. Seats were clean and comfy on Tier 1. Refreshments were available in the foyer. Ladies toilets were a bit busy but clean. A good night out at a wonderful theatre.

If I could give 0 I would. ROYAL CONCERT HALL. Unruly group of people, worse for wear, turned up just as the main show began and spoilt the whole event we had waited to see for more than a year and the staff did nothing to prevent or stop them being a nuisance. They were constantly talking, using phones, standing up and talking to other members of their group during the show and staff just stood by and watched.
Show more...From the minute we had got to the concert hall it was utter chaos inside the building with staff not knowing where you need to go to get to the correct seating area. Badly managed all round and poor response from management when you inform them of your disappointment. They take your money then are not concerned if someone spoils the evening.
Certainly wouldn’t recommend this venue to watch a concert.
