In over forty years of visiting the picturesque coastal hamlet of Port Braddan it has never ceased to take my breath away. To say it is a small group of coastal homes is like describing Elvis as a singer. The setting, views, tranquility and absence of any commercialism, truly have to be seen and experienced by every visitor to the North Coast. In the grounds of one of the homes is St. Gobban's Church, built by the home owner. This tiny church, reputedly the smallest on the island of Ireland, is a welcome haven to take time and say a prayer or make a donation which is passed on to various local charities. Along the Coastal Route linking Bushmills/Giant's Causeway and Ballintoy look for the small sign for Port Braddan. This truly is an unspoilt gem. Miss it at your peril!
Show more...Portbradden. Is a must see even from the main road such a picture so quaint. Beautiful coloured houses and a very very small church. It's. A lovely walk from there to whitepark bay unspoiled beach which takes you threw to balintoy harbour. Were you can have a relaxing snack at the cafe

But still a beautiful place.
We drove down a steep, narrow road to find a lovely cove but no where to park and signs that warned us not to enter. We didn't see the church because we didn't get out of the car and we couldn't identify it from the car. We then managed to turn around and make our way back up the steep narrow road. Luckily we did not meet traffic in either direction.

Waking up to the sound of the sea each morning was just the best along with absolutely glorious weather. Looking out we spotted salmon and porpoises in the sea and of course the cows coming down for their daily paddle in the sea. Along with White Park Bay just a few minutes scramble over the rocks this is a a hidden gem.

When the tide is out you can follow the rocks around to Whitepark Bay, another area of outstanding natural beauty. Parking can be a problem in the summer months as the road is a single lane. There are no facilities, although Ballintoy Harbour has public toilets and a cafe.
Port Braddon is and always will be a Mecca for artists and photographers, nestled as it is at the foot of the cliffs. Do not be misled by the other reviews under this heading, they all refer to Ballintoy Harbour which is just a mile or two further up the road. Port Braddon can be seen from Ballintoy Harbour. There are no facilities at Port Braddon, it is, in my opinion just an excellent "photo op" the land on the beach side of the road belongs to the householders on the other side. For Artists and photographers this is a great location. You might have difficulty parking as, unlike Ballintoy Harbour, there is no designated parking area.

Unlike so many other little harbours on the Causeway Coastline, this one really is unspoilt and beautiful. There’s only a couple of parking spaces available and the single track lane down might be a challenge to a less confident driver. The views there are stunning.
