Show more...We went with a group of young people, The staff were pleasant, professional and able to communicate very well with the young people. The activities were well supervised and the young people had a great time, and felt they achieved a lot.
After 3 hours of activities, the young people wanted to do the Maize Maze. While it was muddy and slippy, it was complicated enough that they enjoyed solving it, and felt achievement getting out the other side, The mud seemed to only slow down their bewildered leader.
The facilities were very good. We had lunch in a covered picnic area, the toilets were clean and there was a place for us to clean the mud off our shoes after the Maze.
All the staff were not only pleasant, but helpful and that made for a very pleasant day.
There were other groups there, but it didn't feel crowded, or we didn't feel short changed.
Great place that the young people are planning for us to go again soon.
For a hospitality lead business who claim to cater for families to cancel a booking with less than 48 hours notice for a party of x8 people due to one bad customer experience on weekend prior to are arrival which was in no way related to our booking isn’t professional by any means , our first time customer experience has be non existent and we will not be recommending @CarrowmenaAC to anyone as we feel the prejudgments made by staff is unacceptable. As paying guests we been left feeling insulted and frustrated by the whole experience with staff , we had been looking foward to first time break but to are disappointment we advised last minute Via email that our trip was void with no exceptions. The manor in which the staff had dealt with our concerns about cancelling was also very concerning to say the least , accusing and rude tones. Poor customer care on all levels
Show more...Absolutely great place can not recommend it enough . Friendly staff and Angie who took us for our activities was brilliant , we had a large group with an age range from 7 to 79 and everyone had a ball .
We stayed in the Bell tents which were clean spacious and defiantly ticked the glamping box .
Good facilities which included toilet block , shower block , kitchen including fridges and a cooker , dining area and a covered outdoor dining area . They even have a tuck shop where you can buy logs for the fire pits .
Well worth a stay and we will defiantly be back .

Show more...We took a group of 13 kids for a day package and were very disappointed having had many good experiences over the years at Carrowmena. When I complained I was told that they now outsource activities to Binevenagh Outdoor Activities.
Firstly we arrived to go canoeing - the Instructor was late and there was only one instructor to take 13 children onto the river. Our Leaders usually go onto the river with the kids but we had been told by the office that we could not do this unless we paid for the adults. As we had never had to pay in the past we had not budgeted for this. In the end two of our Leaders had to go with the kids as there was no way one instructor could safely look after 13 children and we did not want to disappoint them.
Our next activity was back at the centre on the climbing wall - this was all very rushed and kids were given only one chance to climb and quickly moved onto the zip line where again they got one chance. Some of the kids were nervous and I feel if they had been given the opportunity to try a second time they might have overcome their fears. On previous visits kids were given 2 or 3 goes on each.
Next was the Archery which was a total joke. It lasted 19 mins in total including safety talk and would have been shorter if the Instructors would have had their way. The Instructors basically could not wait to get rid of us!
I spoke to the Manager on the day and expressed our disappointment and safety concerns and basically she didn't want to know - she said she was only the Manager and had to do as the Boss said!
I also complained to Carrowmena in writing but was told that activities were outsourced to Binevenagh and that my letter had been forwarded to their manager. Binevenagh did not even have the courtesy to reply.
We were very disappointed with the whole experience, quality and quantity of what was provided and most importantly that of child safety.
We took a group of 40 young people on an activity weekend to Carrowmena and were made very welcome from the minute we arrived. We arrived on the Friday evening and were greeted by Ben who explained how our stay would work, gave us a tour and explained the workings of the kitchen! We were self catering and the hostel had good facilities for cooking. Bedding was provided which meant we didn’t need to bring sleeping bags etc. Bedrooms were basic but fine for what we needed. We had a 6 activity package on Saturday which we really enjoyed. All of the instructors were knowledgeable, safety conscious and encouraged the girls to take part. Despite cold weather on the Saturday morning we had a great trip and would thoroughly recommend Carrowmena for school trips or youth groups!
Show more...The maze itself was outstanding. We went as a group of three adults and went slowly around. We went wrong near the beginning and had to make our way back to the start, so it took us just under an hour. The paths were a tad muddy, so take old footwear. It is not obvious which route to take as there are no well trodden paths. A great activity. The reason I have not given five stars overall is that the 'phone was not answered when we tried to confirm it was open, there was a group as we finished who clearly had not been briefed or had their hands stamped and it was unclear what to do if we got lost or had a problem. The online presence could be improved and made clearer. Excellent vale at £4 perperson.
Show more...Fantastic bank holiday weekend! We stayed with two under 6, did the maize maze, archery, climbing wall and zip line. Kids also enjoyed 7pm inflatable assault course. Aaron the instructor was fantastic, helping the youngest with all the activities. Well worth a visit

The day package we did was Archery to kick off, followed by climbing wall / zip wire with canoeing on the River Roe in the afternoon. The instructors were great - competent, friendly, and very good with the kids, ours aged 4 and 9 got on just fine and had the time of their lives. Even my wife ended up going up the wall, down the zip wire and along the river.. never thought I'd see the day!
