One of my favourite neighbourhood's is the 17th Arrondissement ,to me it's the real Paris experience ,lots of great cafés,pubs, bars and restaurants around this area and superb architecture ,one of my favourite area's of this neighbourhood is Batignolles with it's narrow streets and Bohemian vibe ,to me the best cafe bars and brasseries are in this area ,one of the joys of the 17th Arrondissement is the architecture ,it's stunning ,so photogenic especially at night when this whole neighbourhood is bouncing ,if you're planning a holiday to Paris the 17th Arrondissement is most definitely well worth checking out.

An authentic residential neighborhood without a lot of tourists or tourist attractions. We come here for our favorite Lebanese restaurant. Good market street here. A brand new fabulous park with great architecture around it. Come and explore where real people live.

We love the 17th Arr. we have stayed there twice, 2016 and 2019. We were coming back in 2020 but Covid happened. We stay in a hotel close to the Arc de Triomphe and its so handy to attractions and a lovely part of the city with good cafes and restaurants. We walk a lot so we can walk to most places we want to go, also handy to trains. This area is often overlooked by travel guides but its our favourite.

This is an interesting area, perhaps a bit different from other Paris districts. There are probably fewer tourist visitors around because there are not as many sights of interest to most tourist groups, apart perhaps from places such as the Arc de Triomphe.

This area is a vibrant area with small shops, good restaurants and real Parisians, more thn tourists. It runs basically north -south and near Parc Monceau is quite upscale and further north is more like New York's Upper West Side. It is convenient to all Paris has to offer with many metro lines and is very walkable. I stayed here for 4 days and in the 6th for another 4 days and while both are to be recommended, I would pick the 17th as being less touristy and very interesting.

There are any number of reasons to visit the 17th arrondissement and in case you need another there's the market there - the Marches des Batignolles. It's not a large as many of the other markets in Paris, but it has plenty of interesting stalls to browse, a small cafe and coffee shop and a great vendor who sells a variety of peanuts and spices and tapenades. And an additional benefit of go there is the surrounding area with a nice park nearby with small streams and a carousel, and several streets to explore. Look for the rue des Dames, just as an example. .

This part of Paris is divided by the train tracks into 2 parts. One is very upscale and near the Arc de Triomphe, full of very nice restaurants, cafes and apartment buildings. The other is working class with good ethnic restaurants, cool markets, fun parks and a developing new town with a huge new park. New Metro line will open eventually.

The 17th is the least touristy area in Paris. I stayed in this district and you'll see residents going to and from, lining up for the nightly banquette, picking up items at the Franprix, etc. It's easy to get to all the other more visited districts and is a nice stroll away from Montmartre but you get to enjoy time away from souvenir shops, crowds and just immerse yourself in everyday Paris.

The new special feature of this neighborhood is the big park that was built over the railroad warehouse area near the Peripherique. Some beautiful park features that are growing in, and lots of good modern architecture all around. Otherwise the old fashioned Batignolles Park is lovely and a great throwback to the 19th Century.
