Enjoy the thrill of piloting a wind powered kart along the beautiful strand at Benone. This eco-friendly sport is easier to learn than it looks and no previous sailing experience is necessary. It is a fun activity that adults and children can enjoy together. minimum age is 8 years. The activity is weather dependent but if the conditions are right you will have fantastic fun.

This has to be one of the best ways to get out on the beach having some fun doing something really different. Very friendly, quite easy to get into (although we had all sailed on water before) and so much fun the time will fly by.

We had a great day up at Benone beach with Blokarting fun. It was a colleague's 40th birthday and a group of us from work booked to go Blokarting. George our instructor was very patient with us and gave us good instructions and safety advice, he was also on hand to help us if we got stuck. We all had so much fun and would love to do it again. It cost £20 and we each got half an hour on the karts.

First time blokarting, but picked it up really quickly and was up on two wheels before I knew it! Everyone in our group had a lot of fun and would do it again. Good intuition and very safe even if your capsize.

Found this on TripAdvisor, rang George and got it booked, more than helpful! We had never done anything like this before, but George instructed us through and before we knew it we were going up and down the beach. Safety wear is provided and he even had a few pairs of rain trousers to stop you from getting wet and covered in sand. This is highly recommended and great fun on a windy day!!

Great fun and a very exhilarating experience. Catch the wind right and you think your going at warp speed! My friend who is not athletic in any way really got into it and was like a boy racer on the sand. Good craic.

I had never seen or heard of a Blokart before but after George showed us the basics and outfitted us with the proper safety equipment, it came very easily. Following a few basic maneuvers, George instructed us how to turn with and against the wind, he was extremely patient and helpful throughout the entire experience. The beach itself is an amazing place for blokarting not only for the scenery itself but it also offers plenty of uninterrupted shoreline to accommodate groups wishing to try a Blokart.

One of the best outdoor experiences, beautiful views and a great deal of fun! I have never done this before and expected it to be very difficult - I was proven very wrong. After a safety instruction and quick demonstration by our kind host, we continued to have a great afternoon on one of the most beautiful beaches. Thank you so much for a great experience.

3 adults & 1 eleven yr old did this for the first time. No sailing experience whatsoever but we got the hang of it pretty quick. George gave us gloves, helmet & goggles followed by a short briefing we were off. It was very easy to master. The winds had us going pretty fast and the speed in the low open kart gives quite a thrill.
The absence of an engine means the shrieks of your pals can be heard (we could probably be heard in Donegal!) and this allowed banter as we overtook each other. George kept a close eye and could be heard offering advice as we whizzed past.
I suggest getting a group of 6 or 8 to share the cost & allow for rest breaks (can work with 12).
I absolutely recommend adding this to your to-do list for the North Coast area

We spent an exhilarating afternoon blokarting on Benone Beach with George this July. Thanks to George's expert instructions we mastered the basics quickly and after two hours were speeding around a makeshift race course. My father, who was rather sceptical of the whole event - "Am I not too old for this?" (73 years) became the biggest fan of all and spent the afternoon trying to slam his two sons-in-law on the race track. If you are doing this with a larger group (we were 7 persons, aged 13 to 73 years) it's definitely worth reserving a two hour slot, so that everyone gets a good go. It helps to be a little flexible time-wise on the day in order to get the best out of the wind, which can be unpredictable. The basic time is dictated by the tides, as you need a low tide to transform Benone Beach into a landing strip surface which is ideal for blokarting. But be warned, if there is residue seawater still on the beach you will literally get sand-splattered from head to toe. We looked like sand-men at the end of the session which contributed considerably to the photo fun. George has waterproof trousers, gloves and goggles with him and I'd recommend wearing beach sandals and T-shirts (if warm enough) or light washable rain jackets. But make sure you have a change of clothes with you just in case and some towels.
The blokarts themselves, which have a hand steering device, are easier to control than sand yachts, making them ideal for all ages, as George mentions in his website.
Thanks, George, for a great afternoon and I wish you a successful summer.

We were lucky to have the sun and wind on Benone beach earlier this week. My sons, aged 13 and 11, and I all enjoyed a fun filled hour trying to out pace each other on karts. The wind was quite variable so we had times when getting going was hard and then other times when we were on two wheels. None of us had any experience but with huge patience from George we quickly got the hang. Definitely recommend it.
