Ramore Head

If you start walking from the West Bay car park at Dhu Varren towards the East Bay, or further on towards the White Rocks you can take in the route around Ramore Head.
On Ramore Head the views towards Donegal and northwards towards the Skerries are wonderful, especially at sunset.
At certain times of the year Ramore Head is a spot where you can sometimes see unusual sea visitors, such as Basking Sharks and a variety of small whales.

Lots of parking available looking out to sea so you do not have to leave the car.

Enjoyed the scenery, the view and the children’s playpark at ramore head. You can easily walk around in this area and it’s well cared for by the city.

Lovely to walk around Ramore at any time of year and in all weathers. Be careful if it's very stormy, though! Better to sit in the car and watch the humongous waves as they crash upon the rocks. On a calmer day, start at the West Strand by the harbour and walk right around the Head to the East Strand. I guarantee you'll be ready for a sturdy meal, and you'll have witnessed some of the most magnificent scenery you will ever see.

We drove down thru a nice coastal town and parked our car at the entrance. This is a very short loop walk I'd say probably less than a mile but there are some very pretty view. If u have nothing else to do or need to kill some some time head down here.

You can walk from the East Strand Car Park, right on to Ramore Head and on to the West Strand. It’s like a circular walk around Portrush. You will witness spectacular views all along the way, especially when walking on Ramore Head as you are high up and looking down on the ocean and cliffs and also views across to Portstewart etc. A great place for walking your dog. There is also a little Shelter with a seat where you can sit in peace and quiet and admire the view over Portrush. There is also aTennis Court and children’s play park along the way and good car parking.

If in the Port, make sure you do make a bee line for Ramore Head walk.. Sensational views ANY TIME in ANY WEATHER, but you'll be stunned by the noise and vibration of crashing waves coming into the inlet which will take your breath away with it's power and weight of water involved. Walking around the headland on a calm evening will give you memorable moments to savor, for the dramatic coastline, height and the limitless horizon will make you feel just a speck on the planet given there is NOTHING between where you stand and the Arctic circle..

When we are at the North Coast we always pay Ramore Head a visit. Our girls love to look for shells, crabs and fish in the little rock pools. They also enjoy the park at Ramore Head. There is a lot of construction going on at the moment, so it is a bit noisy and busy up there. The park, whilst being a hit with our girls, is lacking in seats for adults. There are lots of pieces of play equipment which have been removed over the years, maybe time to add one or two more and maybe some extra seating for parents - the bank is fine, when the weather is fair, but alas it isn't awlays sunny in NI!

For a location right in the middle of the town the Ramore headland is truely amazing. The view is stunning and allows you to see both east to portstewart and west to dunluce. Whilst the area tends to have strong head winds and crashing waves, it makes it almost more exciting to visit. You will want to hold small children’s hands!

I walked this route every morning at 5am during the Christmas break and it was exhilarating, safe and the view of the sun attempting to come up over the Royal Portrush Golf Club made me happy to be in Portrush!!
