Enjoyed a Monday Open day at Royal Portrush with Open Sunday pin positions. Made to feel extremely welcome from the moment I drove in through the front gates. Staff could not have been more friendly and welcoming. Excellent pro shop with a fine selection of mementos of the day.

Driving range and Trackman experience prior to teeing off were welcome opportunities to warm up. Definitely arrive 60-90 minutes early to make use of these facilities.

The course itself is immaculate and more than lived up to its billing. Tee boxes, fairways and greens are out of this world and the rough, whilst penal, generally will allow you to find a ball hit offline.

If you get the chance to play Royal Portrush Golf Club, definitely grab it with both hands!!

We played here because its one of the top courses on the Island and for most golfers its on their bucket list.
When you play a top tier golf course you have high expectations and certainly Royal Portrush doesn't disappoint. From the moment we drove in to the car park the grounds staff, facility etc were all top class. The course is very tough especially when the wind blows but you have to expect that. The course itself was in pristine condition certainly there's a divot crew out daily and the fairways, tee boxes and greens were all well tended. Its expensive but value for money. Its a pity their neighbours in port Stewart can't turn out their course in a similar fashion.
Will certainly play Royal Portrush again.

They kept the course on Open condition, and play the championship sunday pins in competition. You get to play the course as set up for Shane Lowry. Need to arrive 90min early, great breakfast, Driving range and trackman experience with Portrush first tee and advice from Alan Dunbar, who played in the Masters and Open. I reckon they should play 2 min course overview video also, from youtube with a bit of footage from the open, so you know how historic and cool the experience is going to be. Cool to hit trackman virtual of first hole and walk out and hit it for real. Expensive, but certainly brilliant. Live leaderboards on phone app, makes open competitions very exciting. Food options needs more lighter options on hot days, but nice. Best Open Course on the Roster.

A wonderful couple of days playing the Valley and the Dunluce courses. All the staff were so welcoming and helpful. The club is nice and relaxed and not at all stuffy as some of the grander clubs can be. They are rightfully proud of their courses and they genuinely want you to enjoy your time with them. The caddies were outstanding - super knowledgeable and friendly and really enhanced the experience.

I got to play the Dunluce Links yesterday in RNLI competition.

The staff in the pro shop, starter's hut & at the results computer were very helpful & friendly. The course was excellent to play with great views to take in during the round.

I kept smiling & thinking I am playing the Open Course even thro the rain over the opening holes.

I cannot wait to get back

We booked 6 caddies for our group of 8 weeks in advance and confirmed a few days before.. When we got there for our game they only had 4. The 2 caddies in our group were called at the last minute - they only lived a few minutes walk away. The caddies in our group carried 2 bags each - the caddie I had drove a buggie as one of the guys in our group had a bad hip. The Club charges 40 pounds per bag for a senior caddie. Most courses charge a lower rate per bag when one caddie carries two bags.

The caddie I had was lazy - he mostly sat in the cart and only provided advice on the tee box and greens. A total waste of 40 pounds. The second caddie provided poor putting advice.

This club should not charge the same price per bag when a caddie carries 2 bags. This may help with teir caddie shortage - as right now it is a no brained to take a single caddie.

The quality of caddies in our experience was poor and it totally ruined a golf game at a beautiful course we had high hopes for.

I complained to the pro shop and spoke to a member in the clubhouse about the caddie issue - I left my name and email address but have had no response.

Maybe if they get a few more complaints they will fix their caddie issue.

Have gone several times to play pitch & putt and each time we have found the attendant to be most unfriendly and unwelcoming. He just grunts at you as if you are a nuisance, This man needs a lesson in customer service, we are paying customers who are keeping him in a job not to mention the revenue this pitch & putt generates for Royal Portrush. We are from NI but what must our tourists think when they encounter customer service like this. A good example of excellent customer care can be found only a few steps away in Rathmore Golf Club where the staff are so welcoming and friendly.

Last night I went to the Royal Portrush pitch and putt to enjoy a fun evening with my friends. A member of our group had checked the price online which stated it would cost £3 each. Upon arrival we were charged £20 for the four of us and thus was actually £5 each (£2 dearer than stated on their site). Furthermore, the price on the ticket stated £4 which had been scored out with pen and replaced with a written £5. We asked the man where to go and he stared at us like we were idiots then to his despair of having to make an effort he explained the layout of the course. We were left standing awkwardly awaiting for our clubs before we could begin. A member of our group had to ask the man for clubs and he stated "well most people bring their own" and well, we very clearly were not carrying any! He then informed us that the clubs would cost a further £1 each with his same "are you stupid?" look. We informed the man we had no more money (as the course had been £2 dearer than stated on the site) and he had the cheek to say "you should've thought about that before you came"!!! We explained about the difference in cost situation but he simply ignored us. We did mot leave his hut until he refunded us our money as we clearly could not play without clubs. He was very stubborn about the refund but thankfully we got our £20 back! I will most certainly not be back here or recommend it to anyone as the staff are rude and unhelpful and the prices have clearly become ridiculous since the Irish open was held here.

I cannot wait to return to Royal Portrush. We stayed directly across the street, so had an easy trip to the course in the morning. Everyone, from the pro shop to the starter to the caddies were very welcoming. The nicest person of all was Hugh the bartender, who found my two week old iPhone after I dropped it on the course in the middle of a rain storm and graciously overnighted it to me in Scotland. Royal Portrush should be honored to have such a thoughtful and honest employee, a true representative of the wonderful people of Northern Ireland.

The course exceeded my every expectation. I've been fortunate enough to play several world renown golf courses - Pine Valley, Royal County Down, the Old Course and Merion - and I'd put Royal Portrush in that select grouping. The course has a great flow, beautiful vistas, a ton of challenging holes and a great historic feel, yet, it is very playable and enjoyable. I cannot wait to return.

The rough is cruel.. the greens impeccablenot to mention being knee deep in sand in the bunkers!!
