Arrive at Piccadilly. Go around the city on these free buses to do a recce of the places you want to visit. A great way to unwind and get your bearings. They dart down streets I have never set foot in. Brilliant overview of this fab city.
Show more...A free bus!! A free bus that takes you around all of the sights in Manchester. We went from Piccadilly to the Medieval Quarter to view the Cathedral. You just hop on and off, I wish I’d found it sooner and saved my legs!
It’s also an amazing community benevolence allowing local people to travel for free for work/leisure.
I’m overjoyed at this Manchester service and think all big towns/cities should follow suit if possible.
Wow how amazing is this service!
You get free travel around the city on a clean cosy bus. The driver was really helpful and even gave us a shout when we got to our stop.
Never in a million years did I think I’d be this impressed with a bus.
Well done Manchester!
This is a great service, and would have received 5 stars from me if it wasn't for the surly, non responsive drivers. There are two routes and as I was staying near the Royal Exchange and Arndale shopping centre I was able to use the Kings Street stop when I arrived and left by train from Manchester Piccadilly. Over 3 days I used it at least six times, rode both routes to get oriented. Fantastic, except only two (late at night a young driver was very friendly, and my last day the driver actually responded to my cherry good morning) were pleasant. Most stared straight ahead, ignored hello, goodbye and thank you. A big difference from the multiple other people I interacted with on my 86 day UK trip.
Show more...Always late and keep changing the bus stops. Waited for over 25 mins although it is supposed to arrive every 10 mins. Moreover, the bus was dirty and has a very bad smell.
Show more...We were staying in a hotel just across from Manchester Piccadilly Railway Station. When we arrived in Manchester by train from the airport, we saw the bus stop at the station for this free hop on, hop off bus service operated by the Manchester Council.
The following day, we decided to give it a try. We only had to wait 5 minutes or so for a bus to arrive at the station bus stop. The majority of our fellow passengers appeared to be locals rather than tourists.
We travelled to the stop near Market Street before hoping off to do some shopping. On the way, we were able to view much of the Manchester inner-city area. When it was time to head back to our hotel, again we only had to wait a short time for the bus to arrive.
This free hop on, hop off bus is a very good service. However, you need to be patient because the bus can be slowed in some parts of the city by traffic congestion.
This is a brilliant service available right outside Manchester Piccadilly train station. Absolutely free and a choice of two routes to explore this lovely city. Buses are available every 10 minutes but seemed like even less!
Thank you Manchester.
Used this free bus - there are two routes - to get around the centre of Manchester. Used by visitors and locals alike. If only other cities were as forward thinking. Stopped me using my car to get around the city. Well done to the authorities for putting this service on.
Show more...I would recommend using the free bus to tour the city. It was pretty quick and clean. They have screens that tell you what stop is next and it lists the attractions at each stop. I wouldn’t recommend using it with luggage as it can get pretty full and it would have been hard to get off the bus with roller bags and even backpacks.

Noticed this on TA and as I left Piccadilly station, there was one waiting.
Show more...Full marks to Manchester, not sure if there are any others elsewhere, a hybrid diesel electric shuttle bus providing free journeys on an inner and outer route around the city.
Clean on the outside and clean inside.
