Kitap Evi is used to be a bookstore and cafe. Now it is turned to a Hotel in line with the demands. Each of the rooms has a different characteristic and position… Sometimes the warmth of a fireplace, sometimes the shade of a magnolia, sometimes the joy of Turkish Bath that reminds you that you’re in Bursa…
Show more...For almost a decade now, I wanted to stay at this boutique hotel and I had the chance to do so only last weekend. I must say I have mixed feelings about this place: the decoration, the view from the room, the overall ambiance are really impressive. Especially waking up to a sunrise with majestic Ulu Mosque on the background was a priceless experience, it was an unforgettable moment. But on the other hand, kitchen smell all over the room during meal hours was unbearable. Getting to the hotel, especially if you have a large vehicle like ours in those tiny roads was nightmarish as the instructions and support from the hotel were insufficient. Service was friendly but not professional. Last but not least, sleep quality was low with sounds coming from all parts of this old wooden house. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our one night long stay: we know that we could not get this overall experience from anywhere else due to the unique location and venue it offers. Yet, I believe that, with better management, this hotel stands the chance to be “the” place to stay in Bursa, that’s a final note
Show more...If you are coming to Bursa to visit the historic centre of this city, the first capital of the Ottomans, Kitap Evi is where you want to stay. The hotel is within walking distance of everything you will want to see, from the Green Mosque to the Panorama 1326 to the Muradiye complex, and yet its position perched in the citadel of the old city means that it is away from the noisy streets below. The staff are lovely and patient, the rooms comfortable and individual—no cookie-cutter mass tourism here—and the restaurant is so good that locals apparently use it for romantic special occasions. We witnessed several birthday celebrations and, we believe, a proposal. I have stayed there twice in five years and if I get the chance to visit Bursa a third time I will go back to Kitap Evi again.
Show more...Low score given due to one reason alone. WiFi is as important in 2021 as having a bed in the room for a good hotel. When paying approx Euro 200/night for the best suite available Suite 12 on second floor with a fantastic view and amazing and polite staff, it is imperative to have a good WiFi connection available, if it is claimed to be available in all areas of the hotel. Complained since checking inn, complained more than a few times again on the 2nd day but excuses don’t do anything if you can’t get your issue resolved and it keeps disconnecting repetitively. All the other positive things mentioned by other visitors are all true but not being able to remain connected with family is just not acceptable for me and one can’t always go to the reception as WiFi works fine there so obviously issue is in the networking inside the hotel and distribution in strength of signals. Hoping the 3rd day of the stay may be better than the last 2 in terms of the WiFi service. The hotel Managenent needs to take serious view and corrective measures on this if it aspires to remain among the top hotels in Bursa. Our experience and review is greatly negatively affected by this.
Show more...It is in a historical renovated building. When you enter you have the feeling that you need to solve a murder. Getting there by car is really complicated as it is in a very narrow cul-de-sac. There are lots of stairs inside and no elevator. The restaurant is great and breakfast is served in a fantastic patio. Some rooms are really special with special decorations and a great view, especially room 12 in the attic. Apparently some rooms have their own private spa or jacuzzi but we didn't stay in one of them. The location is perfect on top of one of those ancient walls just a short walk away from the mosque and the silk market. The staff did not seem to know a lot about bursa they recommended us to go to the dervish cultural center which had been closed for four months and they didn't even know.

If you have a smaller car, you can park 20 meters from the front door. Larger vehicles may be possible, but would be tricky to get around the corner to the hotel. The garden restaurant area has fire pits at night, and is very charming. Solid bar, and food was above average, but seemed hit and miss depending on the dish. We had to dine here because of COVID, and some dishes were excellent, whereas others were a bit bland. It was a bit strange, because you would get lambchops with no seasoning for dinner..and the next morning a "normal" fried egg with god's plenty of cheese/spices. That aside, accomodation was clean, unique, and definiity true to an old school Turkish hotel. With the exception of a few people, English wasn't a strong suit. They did help us find a local place for PCR tests, and were very friendly. One word of warning if you book a "Junior Suite", as Expedia shows a tub on the room offerning. They have two Junior suites, and only one has a tub. Highly recommend.
Show more...I was searching to find a place to stay while in Bursa and chanced upon this boutique hotel. I told my brother if he is ok with it and he was happy to so I waste no time in booking it. We fell in love with it the first time we entered. Have not really grab the fact that this used to be a restaurant/ cafe but it was very well done. We got a room a little too small for two of us since we do not share bed so we opted for another room which is absolutely gorgeous. The space was huge enough for us both. My brother actually slept on the couch which can be converted easily like a single bed! Moving onto the breakfast, it is probably one of the most delightful home made breakfast which was served at the time we came for breakfast. Since it is a boutique hotel, there are no buffet table. It is served exclusively as and when the guests arrived for breakfast. Pretty impressive! We had our breakfast mostly outside in the garden for the next two days. Although it is chilly in the morning, we braved it since breakfast is a meal we both look forward to every single day being in Kitap Evi. There are also a place where you can sit down and read books on the second floor of the hotel. I remembered borrowing a book trip of Turkey. I cannot eventually say just how much we both have enjoyed our time here. The staffs were just so pleasant, kind and always there whenever we needed something. The atmosphere were cozy, relaxing and at times we do not want to go out to explore Bursa because the hotel itself is an exploration. If I were to be back in Bursa, this is where I will stay again. Definitely.
Show more...This beautiful old building has been restored with forethought and loads of charm. Situated in a good position close to the bazaar and street shops. The Victorian style gardens are quaint and restful. Breakfast is a small banquet with so many varieties of jams, cheese, fresh salad and fruits. The fine dining restaurant is superb although the desserts are a slight let down. The rooms are well appointed with detail to small things and the bed is amazingly comfortable. Like all special places it’s not that easy to get to if you don’t like stairs. I would recommend this lovely hotel to anybody that adores the finer things in life and all at reasonable prices.
Show more...The hotel was very finely furnished. It was such a beautiful room! The restaurant is professional; food is great; staff speaks English. They have a lovely garden decorated with taste. One of the best boutique hotels in Turkey we've stayed so far. And it's also in the heart of the city; right by the city walls, very close to the main attractions. Highly recommended!

Lovely staff, interesting and fun rooms, great views, beautiful restaurant and probably the best breakfast I have had worldwide! It is set in the old town on top of the old city walls. It was a great place to start a guided tour from as it gave you a frame of reference. Very enjoyable
