It was a particularly hot day and the room itself is situated on the very corner of the hotel and has two walls that are entirely glass. Although curtains were drawn it very warm. We fiddled with the air con but it made little to no difference to the room temperature. I called reception and promptly a maintenance man arrived at the door. He took the aircon unit apart and assured us that he thought the filter was blocked and that he'd fixed the issue. We sat and waited at least half an hour but there was no change. By this point my husband had taken a cold shower and I was considering whether the balcony was big enough for both of us to sleep on! The maintenance man spoke with reception and asked if we could change rooms, we returned to the lobby to see if a move was possible. We sat for no time at all and were approached by a smiley young lady who offered to take our cases and waved us over to the lift. She introduced herself as Jordan and apologised for the issue in the room and that she'd be happy to offer us an alternative. We were offered a free upgrade to a suite on the third floor which was absolutely beautiful. Large lounge area, with a bedroom off, a large bathroom with his and hers showers, a single balcony off the bedroom and an additional balcony sweeping the entire side of the suite. The room was cool and comfortable, complimentary bar, two vouchers for free drinks in the bar downstairs and a large number of restaurant recommendations! Within a very short space of time our stay has taken a huge turn. Jordan was so helpful, friendly and down to earth. The bed was comfortable with crisp white bed linen, fluffy white towels in the bathroom and beautiful toiletries. The room was peaceful throughout the night and I can't remember a better nights sleep at a hotel. The welcome at breakfast was second to none. Such a fantastic variety of beautiful fresh food on offer, freshly chopped melon, sliced orange and blood orange, grapefruit, peaches, pears, strawberries, pots of fresh Greek yoghurts and compotes. Beautiful pastries, fresh seeded breads, and an abundance of hot cooked breakfast delights. Just so much choice. I would recommend staying at St. Davids wholeheartedly, the staff were incredible, the food was faultless, the room felt luxurious, I left feeling rested and relaxed. A special mention to Jordan who took such great care of us and made our stay so memorable. Every hotel needs a Jordan on the staff!
Show more...Arriving on February 22nd to celebrate my husband's upcoming birthday the following day, i have stayed previously at this hotel, my husband however had not, so we were eager to share the experience. Upon our 8 pm arrival after a long train journey from work, we were dismayed to learn about the lack of no hot water and no heating due to a gas problem and staff unaware of when this was going to resolved. Despite understanding that such incidents can occur, we were surprised and disappointed by the complete absence of any compensation offered – the offer was nothing; we didn't ask for anything, nor were we offered anything. Despite the courteous staff and enjoyable amenities, we anticipated a more significant gesture of goodwill to alleviate the inconvenience, beyond just confirming our booking. Upon expressing our disappointment via email after our return, we were informed that on our next visit, we might receive an upgrade if available. However, guests shouldn't feel obligated to write reviews or request compensation. Goodwill gestures should be offered proactively, particularly in such circumstances. Unfortunately, this fell short of the 5-star experience we had hoped for. Even a complimentary coffee would have helped soften the disappointment.
Show more...Our stay at the hotel was superb from start to finish. The staff we so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. I had a spa treatment (express neck and shoulder massage and facial) with Hemma and it was was so relaxing, she was amazing and very informative through the whole experience, The breakfast was very good with lots of options from fresh fruit to a full breakfast. The staff in the restaurant were very polite and attentive. I would definitely stay here again.
Show more...I attended the spa and had a massage from Hema she was brilliant - never had a massage before will go to Hema again. The facilities were lovely and the staff were all really friendly and helpful. I would thoroughly recommend St David's Spa to anyone.
Show more...Lovely hotel overlooking Cardiff Bay. The reception team were warm and welcoming and had managed to accommodate my request for a balcony room with a bay view. The food is excellent both in the bar and the restaurant. The leisure suite/pool is brilliant. The area around the hotel has many bars and restaurants. Other reviews mention the cost of parking - there is some FOC street parking in the housing estate over the road (Windsor Esplanade) which we used. Be careful though as some is residents only. Also it's cheaper to get an Uber into the City Centre than using the train.
Show more...I've had a hot stone massage elsewhere before but my experience today (28 Feb 2024) with Kanchan at the Voco St David's Cardiff Spa was just brilliant and i'd say another level. Kanchan was friendly, professional and really knew how to work those lava stones. Stones were just the right hot heat to make an effective massage and ill be eyeing up another appointment soon. Highly recommend asking for Kanchan for the hot stone massage if you're eyeing up a visit.
Show more...We stayed at the hotel 1 night ,we used spa facilities 🧖 and treatment we were really relaxed and we had a great time,I will like to say that we were very happy with our therapist who is very friendly and experienced KANCHAN and sorry I can’t remember the name of the therapist who did to my husband we both have had fantastic experiences and we will love to come back again definitely 💯
Show more...I must say I always thought St David's was a little overrated. I was looking for a little last min spa treat for me and my partner and tried various places but St David's was the only place to have availability for us both so I took a chance on it and am so glad I did! I booked a full body massage but when I got there my therapist, Marzena, asked a few questions and could tell I was carrying a lot of tension in my back and shoulders so asked if I'd like to adjust my treatment to focus on my problem areas which I did and thank goodness I did! Felt world better leaving there! She also spoke to me after about my posture and the impact that was having/would have and made some recommendations (which I try to follow and think about daily) a huge thank you Marzena if you get to read this. We didn't stay for food but went for a coffee in the restaurant. It wasn't the greatest of weather's but the view would have been beautiful on a nice day... you could be anywhere in the world and the safe again very lovely and chatty. I only live 30 mins away but next time I might try an overnight stay there too it really impressed me that much.
Show more...I was delighted to arrive at this hotel and be given such a lovely room overlooking the bay and the water, with large bathroom and air con. Bed was comfortable and spotlessly clean, complimentary mineral water and biscuits provided. Lovely towels and toiletries in the bathroom. Staff in the bar were delightful, so professional and helpful ( rare at the moment). We had bar food and our server ( gentleman in long blue denim apron on duty 13/2/24) was exceptional. Have stayed a few times before and will certainly stay again.

Booked a 2 night stay for my husband’s birthday, 1 night DB&B and 1 spa overnight plus afternoon tea. Positives The hotel is in a brilliant position on the bay, with stunning views from our room. The spa treatments provided by Hema and Kanchan were excellent The binoculars at afternoon tea was a nice w Negatives Room was a little tired Spa area looks little neglected, stained ceiling and tiles. Only 2 loungers and 5 chairs available, insufficient for the numbers Had to ask for robes ( that should have been in our room) on 4 separate occasions- finally got them at 6pm on our last night! All of the robes appear to be for small women. I can see this has been fed-back several times before. Toilets in Reception were dirty Trying to book anything was unnecessarily complex and not customer oriented Despite emailing several times to confirm arrangements for my husband’s birthday and telling staff that we were there to celebrate a birthday, this was studiously ignored. Afternoon tea was nice but nothing special for £37 per person including a glass of Prosecco Overall it was a expensive but an underwhelming experience: £326 for 1 night DB&B, £241 for the spa stay in a supposedly upgraded room
