This 17th Century thatched cottage is full of history and stories. Learn about life inside one of Northern Ireland's oldest surviving buildings. Also home to the interesting Downhill marbles display. The house is open by appointment only, so please call and ask for a tour.
Show more...Doesn't take long to go round your self guided tour with many interesting facts and well laid out. You can actually go round the whole of the property and it certainly showed me many things I had never seen before. Well kept and maintained and surprised it isn't more popular.
Show more...This is a small property compared to some of the National Trust places but "small is beautiful". Definitely worth a visit - the staff are friendly and most welcoming taking pleasure in showing the visitor around. There is no Cafe but that doesn't stop you having a coffee break in the most welcoming entrance area. We visited on a damp chilly morning and the stove was lit making a warm, cosy break.
Well worth a visit - enjoy the garden and funky little summer house on a sunny day.
Visited with Granddaughter who was delighted to be able to dress up in old fashioned clothes and play with old fashioned toys, Great information on the history of the house and nice to be able to see around it. Unfortunately the weather was very cold on the day we visited so we were restricted to indoors. Will be back again in the better weather to get the full experience.
Show more...One of the oldest thatched cottages left standing in Northern Ireland. It was built using a CRUCK FRAME. Very knowledgable staff at the cottage.
Buy a National Trust pass if you are visiting a number of historic sites.
Great Santa show here at Hezlett House The kid's were loving it . Santas wife was on hand to explain what Santa does at Christmas. Highly recommend this venue
Show more...Lots to do and see. The day we went there were animals to pet and feed, games and rides for the children and a tour of the house.
Show more...Fantastic House from 1691 in great condition - really interesting to see how life was in those days. The entry ticket covers Downhill Demense and Mussenden Temple too, so good value if not a member of the National Trust.
Show more...The National Trust have maintained this building beautifully. The family history is superbly displayed. The guide on duty was very knowlegable and helpful
Show more...We were in the area seeing Giants causeway. So we dropped in, we are so glad we did, the old thatched house shows how people once lived. In a well to do small house, demonstrates how simple people lived. This attraction is good to see as an add on.

Recently re-thatched, the property is delightful from the outside painted white with a small cottage garden. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and made the visit more fascinating. When it was acquired by the trust it was left the way it was in the 1970's. With it's rare cruck frame and musty smell you almost imagine you will find granny still siting by the fire or in bed somewhere within the property!!!
