This beach is awesome! Very fine sand, very clean and very close to the railway station, supermarket, local bars, coffee shop and Golf course. On the fairly new boardwalk, a farm shop trailer sells to-die-for home made ice cream during the summer months. Since the beach is very wide, even in summer with lots of local and international tourists coming to sunbathe, the beach never feels overcrowded. When the waves are high enough, the surfers go out and make for incredible pictures during sunset (this happens all year round!) I also love it during the winter when local people enjoy the silence and also the occasional wild weather. It can get very windy and stormy, it is after all the North Atlantic Coast. Last not least, at the far end, the beach gets rocky and then leads on to meet the cliffs of Downhill Demesne. Simply stunning! Highly recommended for nature lovers looking for a place conveniently located but still quiet enough to allow you to really embrace and enjoy all the beauty and power of mother nature.

While this is a great beach I was here for a week I noticed part of the beach does not allow dogs which is fair enough, during the week I saw countless people ignoring this law. (is there no enforcement.) Also the part that does allow dogs has no bins on the beach. Maybe this would be an idea to encourage cleanliness

This must be one of the top beaches in the UK. I estimate it to be half a mile long with frequent opportunities for surfing. The sand is golden, fine and clean - no seaweed. On a summer's day the entire scene is one of breathtaking beauty. RNLI lifeguards patrol daily during the summer months. There are two or three good eateries within 2 minutes' walk. The train station is also just a hundred yards away. A first class spot for a family day out, away from the commercialism of so many resorts.

It's a beach, yes, so what can you say. It's a beach with a spectacular view, a lovely walk, and a great place for a spot of beach fishing. Dog friendly to boot!
