Castlerock Golf Club

Shocked to hear the committee of Castlerock Golf Club want to change their caterer I have always found the food at castlerock one of better offered in a club. Mel will be very much missed, I am confused to who will benefit from the change, it clearly makes no business sense!

Our society had the most enjoyable experience of a Golf Club that we have ever attended. The menu and pricing was absolutely fabulous, with so many choices of dishes to choose from. The staff where both friending and efficient, I am now so disappointed to hear that the committee of Castlerock Golf Club decided that the caterer is no longer wanted after 10 good years. Are they mad!!!!!!!!!!

Disappointed by the fact the comitee of this club have just decided to drop their caterer for no good reason. Melvyn has done a lot for this club the past decade, therefore this decision is highly disrespectful! The food that Melvyn serves is the main attraction to this club, I think that this was a terrible idea and do hope someone responsible regrets their decision. Where ever the place Melvyn chooses to go next is in luck as he will bring not only great food but will attract alot of customers as Melvyn is very well known for his cooking. I and many of his regular customers will follow him to where ever that may be! The food in this club will never be replaced with the high standard and quality again. Good luck to Melvyn, I'll be sure to see him very soon.

Took over 1 hour to produce 2 fish and chip meals. No apology and no interaction to resolve the issue. The restaurant downstairs (we were told) was busy) however regular customers who supports the club over the winter months do expect more.

I recently conducted a memorial service for a family who had hired the room for this occasion. As I was conducting the service, the bar manager proceeded to make cappuccinos and the frothing of the machine was incredibly loud and disruptive. The mourners were very upset by this.
During the reflection, a mourner got up and asked that he stop. His response was “I’ve got drinks to make”. I struggled to conduct the service over the noise of the machine and the family will remember the service for all the wrong reasons. A lot of time and effort went into making this service just right for this lovely family.
In all my time as a celebrant, I have NEVER experienced such a level of disrespect, lack of empathy and rudeness at such a difficult and sensitive time. Shame on you.

This club really is a hidden gem. The grounds and facilities are totally beautiful. The food is of the highest quality and the chef, Mel, clearly has a great talent and passion for the food he serves. Cannot wait to visit again. I highly recommend their menu.

Outstanding course definitely worth playing and a hidden gem as previous people have said. Very friendly and welcoming staff up in the club house. However the food was nothing other than poor from start to finish, food was tasteless, badly presented served by young inexperienced staff some of whom were many shades of orange maybe I'm old fashioned but well presented staff are a must in my eyes. One of our group had a trivial complaint but none the less it was dismissed by a very grumpy supervisor and ended up being the topic of conversation the rest of the night. We shall be returning next year and fingers crossed the food end will be rectified. Great club and course!

The food here has really gone down hill. The owner won't listen to advice on how to improve. You can wait for a very long time for what is mostly deep fried food !

Played last with friends course in great shape great greens. Had a great meal to finish the day stall very attentive and kind

Knee high grass instead of rough, elevation and directional changes and blind shots make this potentially fine golf course penal for the average golfer. Our foursome lost close to 40 balls playing it..many of those were 3 to 5 feet off the fairway. I realize this is Irish golf and not USA golf but Tralee, Ballybunnion, Waterville, Portstewart, Portrush and Royal County Down all have the same length grass with blind shots and directional changes but play much more fairly for the average golfer.
