Show more...Nice hotel, comfortable beds and clean room. Breakfast was very nice and well presented. Friendly staff throughout. Really close to the station and the nearby shops and bars in the city centre. The room was a little cold for my liking though. I couldn’t get the air conditioning or rather, heating to work. I prefer a cool room anyway but it was just a little colder than I would have liked.
Show more...Never in my time travelling around the UK, have I met a staff member as discriminatory and unjust as Karthi, the night manager at Clayton’s Hotel, Cardiff. He was incredibly rude, uninclusive as I tried to bring back my gay partner to my room. He mentioned that it was against the rules and hinted that I had to be straight to let someone in or pay an extra 200 pounds for them to stay the night. I will not be back.
Show more...We had a brunch with bubbly for my birthday and although the selection of food for vegetarians could have been better, we had a lovely time. The bubbly was much better than Prosecco being a mousseux which was very good to drink and left no after effects like some do. However, a major shout out goes to our waitress Gina who was amazing. She could not do enough and made sure everyting was to our satisfaction, she is a definite asset to the hotel and we would go again.
Show more...I stayed for one night for work and I’d definitely stay again. Perfect location for the central station and city centre. My room was clean and modern and well equipped. I could hear the trains and the lifts, but once my earplugs were stuffed in, it was fine. Breakfast was nice with a good choice. The staff were really friendly and cheerful, especially the chap on reception and the lady at breakfast, I really appreciated how jolly and welcoming they both were.
Show more...Amazingly wonderful staff throughout the hotel helped to make this s really enjoyable trip for my wife and I. There were a couple of little snags (TV not working and sink in bathroom blocked) but we cannot complain about these as they were rectified almost immediately. We were even given a complimentary drink from room service as an apology. Special mentions to George, Josh and Lito fir all their help and advice. The room was very comfortable. I am wheelchair bound and the accessibility is second to none. The staff in the restaurant were beyond exceptional in their assistance and understanding. I hired an EV and was able to leave it in the storage room when not in use. Overall a really nice place to stay.
Show more...We went for afternoon tea there and it has to be the best food around, we’ve been here a few times and it’s my favourite as the cakes and sandwiches are delicious and the staff are wonderful especially Gina who is a fabulous person and an asset to the company, well done, keep it up
Show more...Stayed here quite a few times. But this time it seems to of gone a bit down hill . We were on the 11 floor the room was a bit outdated could of done with some tender loving care really. The mattress was very hard and also the pillows. There was only one spare pillow for the two of us. We had an evening meal there should of gone out really it was not that fantastic and the service was very very slow. There was only a few people having food i don't know how long we would of been there if it was full. There was only one waitress on and she had other things to do as well . There used to be a really good breakfast but not as good as it used to be. We could only see one waitress on and she was busy but she was very polite and cheerful and very help full . We did notice that the Manager ( i take it was the manager ) told her to check something she was busy and had to leave what she was doing to check what ever he told her to do. I am sure he could of done it himself . Maybe they should get more staff so the service would be a bit better and faster.
Show more...Good location right in the middle of Cardiff right beside train station. Check in online was easy. Ninth floor room was large, clean and comfortable. Lifts were quick and there was no waiting. Paid £10 for breakfast- there were a number of options all were pretty good. Only fault was the shower - it was one of those where you can either wet your front or back but not both at the same time. The shower head couldn’t be moved. We were only staying one night so not really an issue but if I was here longer it would be a problem
Show more...All in all, we were very disappointed after staying at a Clayton hotel previously, and we thought we wouldn't have any concerns booking into this one , we were wrong . Right , the beds , just wow , how small are they ....After asking to upgrade so we had a bigger bed , apparently a small double is now standard . Please be mindful of this if you are of a larger size . No hot water , fan did not work , not enough pillows , air con didn't work ...so small in room , you bumped into each other when you moved. Good points. The staff were amazing and tried to rectify some of the issues , so well done 😊. Breakfast asked for poached, which was amazing, but again , breakfast was very basic compared to previous Clayton we had stayed at.

I chose this hotel as I was attending Velindre Cancer Centre daily for treatment for a whole month. I could not have chosen a better hotel as it turned out to be prefect. The hotel is 2 minutes walk on the flat from Cardiff Central Railway Station, with its taxi rank, and about 6 minutes from local bus stops. Although close to the railway there were no real problems with the trains passing level with the sports bar. The hotel is clean and comfortable with all the amenities that you would expect from a 4* hotel. The sports bar serves a wide selection of drinks. Evening meals in the restaurant were invariably excellent, tasty, ample in size and well presented. Sadly the hot cooked breakfast each morning was poor as it was no where near warm enough - although this is the case in almost all hotels I've visited who offer a hot buffet. However, the BEST thing about this hotel for me was the staff - WITHOUT EXCEPTION they were friendly, efficient and interested in how I was doing. I can thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone, especially if traveling by public transport. Certainly I will be staying there on my future visits to Cardiff.
