We visited yesterday with a 7, 8 and 9 year old for the Horrible history room.
Joel was our host and the experience was class. The kids loved it..not going to lie I did too!
Joel explained everything and made the kids feel really involved and special. He didn't rush them and let the questions.
The rooms are really well set up, and has some great surprises without being scary or too dark for the kids.
Overall I'd definitely recommend.
Finally, there is a lovely roof terrace and soft drinks and alcohol available. Drinks are £2 for soft drinks and pop corn was £1 so reasonably priced for a city centre attraction. Really enjoyed. And once again thank you Joelthe kids are still talking about it x
David was an amazing host! His voice acting as Jack The Ripper was PHENOMENAL and we were so tense throughout the entire time.
He gave us a decent amount of clues that enabled us to escape.
When we come back, we will ask for David!!!
We visited for a birthday (not all of us local to Liverpool). Firstly, one of our group was not able to come unexpectedly. I emailed and asked if we could be refunded for one ticket (with several days notice) and we were told that the ticket was non-refundable. I can understand this, but it is still disappointing. The only option was 'pass it on to someone else to take their place' and there was no apology offered. Then, when we arrived, we were told that the room we had booked (Prison Break) was unavailable, due to a technical fault. Again nothing offered as an apology here either, we were just put in to another room. We ended up doing Dr Watson. It was still a good experience, but I just felt the service let it down a little. When we have visited other escape rooms the staff have really got in to character and made the experience. We didn't find this to be the case here at all. There was no photos at the end to say you escaped and no recording of timings either. 4 of us did the room and we were out with nearly 20 minutes to spare, so felt a bit short and mediocre. Combined with the fact that we weren't refunded for the person who couldn't come, it felt a bit pricey really for a 40ish minute experience (£90). Not sure if it was just our experience on the day maybe and we were unlucky. The Jack the Ripper room did sound good - we could hear lots of screams. Maybe our room was just one of the tamer, not as exciting, ones.
Show more...We came here tonight (sunday 30th jan) to do the VR escape room, I've never done VR before and I explained this to our game operator she got us set up but didn't explain anything to me or how to use to controls. We weren't told the Game had begun and we were left completely to our own devices with basically no idea how to even move around.
About 20 minutes into the game my partners headset crashed and it took our operator 10 minutes to realise this and do anything about it.
With 13 minutes of the game left the game glitched and we couldn't get through a door as there was something jamming it (definitely not part of the game) So we took our headsets off and just said to the game operator we can't continue as it's crashed. To which she replied (no it hasn't) another word wasn't spoken she just escorted us out and told us to enjoy the rest of our evening no apology for the crash in the game, or the fact we had to end early as it wasn't working. (think her name was Lindsay)
This is such a shame as we have been before once and we had such a good time the Jack the Ripper room really is amazingly set up and our game operator that time was so lovely (Hannah M) and helpful!
This experience has really put me off coming back, I don't like leaving bad reviews for anywhere especially a new business in the city but I'd avoid the VR if you don't wanna waste your money!
Went to play the Jack the ripper room the other week with friends. As a whole the room is ok a bit worn out I'd say but wasnt bad, our main issue was when half way in the game we realise our Games Person was playing another game at the same time our was on. This made our clues come late or them missing certain things happening in our room. The price we paid I assumed we would have our own dedicated staff member to make our room run well but it was glaringly obvious her attention was on another party. I don't blame the poor girl who was rushed sorting 2 groups out when we finished but didn't think it was a good experience considering the price we paid.
Show more...We booked a room for 9:30 p.m.. Upon arrival, we repeatedly rung the doorbell and even gave them a call but no one would reply. We managed to enter the building after a family that had just finished playing opened the door for us. We went to the floor that was supposed to be the reception and it was closed. I roamed the building and found some other people waiting to play on another floor. It looked like there were only two members of staff handling three escape rooms at the same time. As we were playing, it was obvious that the game master was not monitoring us as she didn't reply when we were asking for help or the clues she was giving us were not always on point. The result was utterly disappointing and it was a waste of 55 pounds and time. We are very experienced escape room players and we would NOT recommend this place to anyone interested.
Show more...We have played over 500 escape games, and have played Escape Live in Birmingham, and enjoyed the games we played there, so we decided to give Liverpool's branch a try.
A nicely decorated room, finished to a good standard, with some good props and fun jump-scares.
This room was DARK. So dark in fact that we were told to take our phones in by our host. This…I didn’t do (primarily because my battery is knackered, secondary that I would think if a room is dark the company should provide adequate lighting ) but to rely on the in-game lighting was a mistake. I struggled A LOT seeing in this room, even when the lights were eventually brought up a little. There are moments of complete darkness too in places.
We could hear mutterings and talking from outside the room too which broke our immersion in the game.
The puzzles themselves were sound, had there been more care taken with the presentation… the game would have flowed a lot better.
There were a lot of folded laminates and general wear and tear which made some puzzles unintentionally harder. There is a lot to be said about the presentation of puzzles leading to how well the game plays! IT all factors in, combine this with the dull lighting and it’s a recipe for disaster.
Our game host was nice enough and delivered us decent clues. He improved the experience for us.
Overall, I was very underwhelmed with this room, and with the price point being so high, I felt somewhat disappointed in our experience, especially after having a good time at the Birmingham branch!
The Prison Break room was fantastic, easily the best room we've done so far. The set is brilliant and without giving too much away, the clues/props aren't always for what you think!
Our host John was fantastic, left us too it for the majority but was very much on hand to give criptic clues and steers in the right direction when needed.
Love escape rooms? This room is a must
Faye was a great game master. Her clues were great, not too obvious but enough to help us move on with the game, without giving us the answer.
We chose the Jack the Ripper Room, and I would throughly recommend this. It’s hard to know how best to describe this experience without giving anything away, the best this I can say is, go and experience it for yourself and if you are into this kind of thing, you won’t be disappointed

Originally booked a room planning to try it solo! The help offered on the site's live support chat feature was great. The respondent did extra just to make sure of which rooms were possible solo at this specific location, even though they didn't know in advance!
Show more...Then I attempted it with my sister. I'm sorry. I was planning to do it solo! She just happened to be right outside by total coincidence. Happy accident?
Anyhow, we were seen by Madison. She was very friendly and welcoming, leading us through the briefing for Horrible Histories, Mystery Museum, and the room itself absolutely lived up to expectations. Loved the experience. You could tell the designers of the room genuinely enjoy Horrible Histories. There was even a song reference! No spoilers though. No no no. But you did not actually need to know anything about Horrible Histories to play it, that's for sure, and it's a good thing! It's been years since I watched it! Alas. We had a great time in the frankly very nostalgic experience. Getting through the rooms and just about making it out with 4 minutes and 11 seconds to spare, only being offered two clues through the entire experience! The room flows incredibly well. We only got a little stuck due to our own personal errors. The hints we did have were clearly delivered quite concisely without spoiling it or completely taking over! While the room's story atmosphere and videos really helped set the scene for this museum. Great sound design.
Other staff in the establishment were also really friendly throughout, from what I saw!
We had a great time for a great price too.
