Ataturk Museum

This museum was once the home of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Turkish Republic. Most of the furniture and items on display are original pieces used by Atatürk.

This museum, converted from the house where the founder of the Turkish Republic used to stay during his visits to Bursa, is a very well kept and maintained historical artifact reflecting both the architecture and decoration of the late 1920s and early 1930s Turkish art. A must see in Bursa.

If you are in Bursa, you should miss the home of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the Father of the Turks, and creator of modern Turkey. But there's not much point visiting the house unless you have at least dome some reading about the great man's life to help you understand why he means so much to the people of Turkey. But if you have done a bit of reading and research, it's hard not be awed by the fact that greatness once dwelt here, and you can still feel it in the atmosphere all round you. But if you're not interested in Turkey, its people, its history, and why Ataturk means so much, don't go. Me? When I return to Bursa, I always go to the house and stand in silence as my tribute a great country and its greatest leader.

Being in Bursa take a taxi down the road 10 minutes to CEKIRGE which is the area for all the wealthy population of Bursa back in the 1970s and 1980s. The area is proud of its geothermal waters and natural springs which are offered throughout the hotels in the area. You'll enjoy this place.

We went out of our way to visit this museum. When we got there we were confused, because of the size. This museum was featured in the local maps as one of the best in the city. When we got there it was pretty much empty. No one was there to greet us or show us the way. We kinda just wondered from room to room (about 6ish in total). While we were there a group of loud kids were walking about and no one came to quiet them or anything. The time lapse from beginning to end with rowdy kids was about 20 minutes. It was a nice place to visit, but going way out of our original itinerary for it was not worth it.

The museum is an old house given to the founder/1st president of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. He decided to give it back to his nation after his death. So now it's a lovely museum which gives a good impression of those times and the life of our beloved leader forever Free and central location. ( For me personally, the place is even more more important because I found the picture of my great grand father Süleyman Sırrı İçöz, who was also one of the founders of Turkey and a friend of Ataturk )

Beautiful architecture with history in it. It is a must-see place for anyone visiting or living in Bursa. The house can easily be noticed as there are some photos outside and owing to its architecture.

Atatürk Museum, in the Çekirge district, showcases artifacts associated with Atatürk, the founder of modern Turkey. The wood three-story house was built in the late 19th century. Atatürk, stayed here several times starting in 1923, after the Turkish War of Independence. His last visit was in 1938 shortly before his death. It was opened as a museum in 1973. The historic house, modest furnishings and peaceful surroundings impressed me when I visited. The ground floor contains many historic photos in the reception and dining rooms. Atatürk's bedroom, study, and bathroom are upstairs. The uppermost floor is a guesthouse, and the kitchen is in the basement. Most of the furniture and articles in display are the originals used by Atatürk. A tree-shaded garden surrounds the house, and the archaeological museum is across Çekirge Cd. Atatürk Museum is open Tues-Sun, 8am-noon & 1-7pm with no entry fee.
