I wished to see the old han but it was not as I expected with boutique silk shops offer expensive products.
It should be peaceful to enjoy a cup of tea and simit but not in too crowded han.
The han itself is beautiful but I miss the Ottoman ambience

Bursa has been our favorite city since the early 1990s, visiting most recently last year (2012). During the early days of Ottoman Empire, Bursa started silk worm breeding and silk production that continued ever since, except until recently its silk scarves and garments started coming from other markets (like China and India), where production cost is lower. With enormous silk scarves and garments in the market, you will find three prices: silk garment made in China or India, those made under Bursa's brand name and those manufactured right in Bursa.
It's a bazar that you will never like to miss, if in Bursa, and will remember it to visit again on your next visit. Its dealers are very courteous and friendly, never pushy but will stick to their prices. A cup of Turkish tea is a traditional welcome. Once you have bought a item in a shop, the owner will remember you for many years. Many a times, the owner immediately pointed out that we had been to his/her shop before and what we had bought. If you want the real Bursa produced silk scarf or garment, it will be a bit expensive but you will enjoy the rest of your life.

Lived in Bursa for two years, and enjoyed shopping in the Koza Han. Do ask if scarves were made in Bursa or Turkey -- most vendors will tell you which come from China or India. Some locally hand-screened smaller scarves, mostly with floral motifs, can be had for the equivalent of $5-10. Best buys are probably in the $25 range. Great gifts for those back home. And amazingly warm.
Enjoy Turkish coffee and simit in the interior courtyard, and shop in the adjacent bazaar for locally made jewelry (quality varies) and some good Ottoman reproductions. Check out shop where one can buy Karagoz puppets and perhaps even see a puppet show: then, you are in a very interesting part of the bazaar. Also a good place to exchange money if you need to do that. Just compare rates.
Outside, if you ask, you can find streets where knifemakers' wares are for sale: this was once an important part of Bursa's economy, and we brought home some curved pide knives for our cooking friends. Also interesting: long, almost spatula-like doner carving knives, used for kebab.

Koza Khan was built in 1491 by Sultan Beyazid II in Bursa, the first Capital of the Ottoman Empire. Koza Khan consists of two-story inn around a large rectangular courtyard, in the middle, there are a small magnificent Masjid and a fountain. The design and historic texture of the khan architecture spread a kind of spiritual feelings to the place. High-quality silk fabrics can be bought from the shops in this market.

Koza Hani (a.k.a. Silk Market) is located between the Grand Mosque and Orhan Mosque, on Ataturk Cd. in central Bursa. During the Byzantine period Bursa was famous as a silk trading center. Bursa’s silk trade continued to flourish during the Ottoman empire when the Ottoman sultans controlled the trade routes between Europe and Asia. The faciities at Koza Hani was a key part of Bursa's silk trade. It was commissioned by Sultan Beyazid II in 1491, built as a combined inn, stables and warehouse. Traders coming to Bursa on the Silk Road could stay overnight, rest their pack animals and securely store their trade goods. The two-story inn was later renovated, and converted into a shopping center. Multiple small shops surround a shaded rectangular courtyard. A fountain in the center is surmounted by a tiny masjid (place of worship) accessed by a steep stair. A multitude of shops offer high quality goods, various silk fabrics, scarves, shawls, apparel products, and artistic products, dowry and home textile products, underwear, silver and precious gift items. A cafe offers refreshments. I especially enjoyed a coffee and pastry under the leafy canopy near the fountain. I could imagine road-weary traders arriving at this oasis, thankful for a room and secure place to rest their camels, as well as an opportunity to trade, catch up on news and settle financial affairs. Koza Han is open on weekdays from 8:00 to 19:30, Saturday 8:00 - 20:00, and Sundays between 10:30 - 18:30.

I lost in this market.It is huge for me.Everything under one roof.From souvenirs to silk .The sell great scarves.Most of the seller were able to converse in limited English.And please say "enderim' for you to get discount

Koza Han is the famous historic market area of Bursa nearby the Great Mosque. There are a lots of gift shop, silk shops surrounded. There is a fantastic mini mosque in the center yard. You can drink Turkish coffee in the yard and feel the history the the traders shopping in this market area with the goods comes from China, Persia, Bagdat and İstanbul.

Koza Hani is a small square filled with cafes on the ground level and the silk shops are on the first floor. The surrounding area is filled with hundreds and hundreds of shops and stalls. You can find dried fruits, clothings, nuts, goldsmiths, silk shops, etc. I would recommend that you start your visit from Ulu Camii and then walk towards Koza Hani via all the small lanes dotted with shops.

This must be one of the most extraordinary bazaars in Asia Minor. Continually used as a trading centre since the 15th century it should on no account be missed by any visitor to Bursa. It has beautiful courtyards where coffee and tea can be slowly sipped.

"My best kept secret"
My favourite place for shopping beautiful, good quality all things silk. Koza Han in Bursa is well known for silk scarves, pashmina, silk ties, etc. it's well known that Queen Elizabeth has visited the place a few years ago. During the ottoman empires, Koza Han (Cocoon house) is part of the bazaar where the end of the Silk Road where all the traders from China, Asia minors congregate to sell their wares. Most parts of the bazaar building is still in its original stone works and the Ulu Camii (Geeat mosque) is in the same prescient.

It's part of the Main bazaar shopping district, it has tea gardens on the ground floor if shoppers are tired and need a break. Less hassle than the grand bazaar in Istanbul. More frequented by locals than tourists.
There are specialty jewellery store selling genuine natural stones in gold or silver finishes at a third of the price we would pay in Istanbul.
The Kapalı çarşı (covered market) is right in the city centre of Bursa. Excellent area for shopping clothes, shoes, leather wares, etc.
