I wanted to firstly add, the 2 star review was purely based around the barkas boat journey not the experience. I've done the whole turtle beach before and it's amazing. Cleopatra beach is wonderful, the river cruise is amazing and the kids loved the mud baths more than anything. This review is based around the 2 and a half hours of hell getting there.
Firstly you'll always over pay at a travel agent, go directly to the boat. I paid £20 per adult and £10 per child. When you get to the boat you see it's £8 per person so don't get ripped off.
The biggest insult is getting bag searched getting on board and they take all food and drink from you including water. I was so angry, you don't get told any of this before.
You then have to get ripped off all day with over priced water and food.
You get charged for everything, parrot pictures, more pictures, extra food, chips, soft drinks.
The whole experience was awful, the food was terrible and the facilities were disgusting. Mens toilets are just urinals with urine sloshing around all over the place, no running water to wash your hands, plugs hanging out the walls.
Please do yourself a favour don't book this disgusting boat and save yourself from being ripped off.

Marmaris Resort and SPA was terrible in service and in the quality of food and trust me I have been to some great resorts before with all inclusive, which served the higher end of the food range. The bathrooms consisted of soap dispensers. We arrived late at night as there was only one flight with EasyJet and went up to the restaurant that served cold sandwiches. The beach was dirty and contained cigarette packets, lighters, used band aids, plastic bags and other crap. If you're a swimmer, this is not your resort! The best part of the trip was the SPA at this resort and a big shout out to everyone that worked in the SPA

This was one of the best days we spent on our holiday in Turkey. Dalyan is a lovely little town with beautiful, cheap restaurants along the river, lovely hotels and a great market/bazaar. We were not quite sure how the cruises to the attractions would work. But you just drive down to the river (at the end of the main road) where the local co-op runs trips to whichever combination of the attractions appeals to you. These are all fixed price and you get the whole boat to yourself, leaving whenever you want. Each boat could hold up to 20 people, but my husband and I had a whole boat to ourselves for over 4 hours, at a cost of 130TL. As we cruised along the river, the Lycian rock tombs are amazing (although you can also see them from the terraces of the riverfront restaurants). We chose to cruise along the river to view the tombs, then go to Turtle Beach, then view the ancient city. As we approached Turtle Beach, the boat slowed down and tied up to a crab fishing boat. Our boat captain waved a crab on the end of line in the water, and we were amazed to see 2 turtles appear, one of which surfaced. They are huge! We then went on to the beach, where we were at liberty to spend as much time as we wanted. There are change rooms there, lounge chairs and a cafe. After a little while there, we returned to the crab boat where we bought 1/2 blue swimmer crab each, that had been cooked and served with salad and lemon. It was delicious! We then went back along the river and tied up at the base of the ancient city. We wandered around the ruins at our leisure (8TL each entry), then went back to the boat. Our guide asked if we wanted to stop somewhere for lunch - it was early afternoon by then, so he took us to a lovely riverside restaurant. We ate a delicious lunch (quite inexpensive) while he sat inside, then he took us back to the dock. We could have also gone to the mud baths and thermal pools, but did not want to do so. The guide was great - he was unrushed and seemed very happy to do just 1 tour each day, for as long as wanted to take. It was a great day.

This summer we spent in Marmaris, Turkey, and decided to visit Dalyan. Actually, we took a boat trip from the city Dalyan to the place where river flows into Mediterranean sea (30€ bus from Marmaris to Dalyan, boat and ticket for Mud Bath included).
First of all, we visited Mud Bath. Nothing special if you are asking me, but some people liked it. If you do not mind the smell of the sulfur, you will like this place. Otherwise, you can sit in the lovely restaurant in deep shade and wait your companions around 30-45 minutes to finish their mud treatment.
Our next stop on a cruise was Kaunos Restaurant, situated on the river. For only 5€ you can eat as much as you like, and food is ideal for hot days: fish, vegetables, salads and fruits.
During the cruise you can see turtles and blue crabs.
A must see destination: Lycian tombs situated above river cliffs. Simply amazing!
The last stop: place where the river flows into Mediterranean sea and Turtle Beach. There are no words that can describe that beauty! Turtle Beach is situated at Mediterranean coast, 7km long beach is wonderful. Do not be suprised if you see wooden stakes. Stakes are marking the place where you should not put your towels because loggerhead sea turtles are nesting here. Take a long walk by the coast, swimm as much as you can because send is perfectly soft and clean. Waves colide which makes water perfect for adventure and swimm for really good swimmers.
You can use for free toilets, showers and cabins on the beach, but remember that water is salty and not for drink.
Try to spend whole day at the beach and enjoy as much as possible. You will alwas want to come back, at least I do!
Advice: since it is windy and hot, please use suncream! Also do not forget thongs because send is too hot.

Myself and my family (13 all together) took 2 boat trips in Dalyan on this boat, the hospitality was superb, the food was delicious and alcohol was cheap! The first trip was past Turtle Beach where we spent hours anchoring up in different beautiful locations and diving into the sea off the boat. We had such an amazing time, we had to do another trip before our week was up! A few days later, we went on an incredible evening trip to the mud baths, where once again 'Captain Devrim' anchored up and let us jump and dive in the river! After the mud baths we were served up (once again) delicious fresh food and the drinking continued! We then spent the night partying, stargazing and totally relaxing, it was truly an amazing boat and experience! Devrim and his crew spoilt us rotten, and we would all recommend anyone going to Dalyan to seek out 'Grand Devrim'. I think you can even book in advance at [email protected]

It was definitely a thrill, but you must be extremely cautious.
We were sold tickets when the water was quite high and rough. also the section were were taken on was the 6th most difficult in the world. Not great for tourists, who just want to experience it. I fell out the raft in the middle of the rapids and it was a incredibly awful experience, not knowing if I would survive. I banged both my knees against rocks and now I am in pain.

I would not say don't do it. But before you book ensure you find out which part of the river they will be using and how rough and high the river is. If you very experienced and enjoy this, then you should be fine.

The only downside was that they didn't let us more time on the Turtle Beach which is a natural wonder with nice soft golden sand and clear water. You should try and stay more there. We went with Orca II, and I didn't like they collected all the liquids people had on their bags, when they entered their big boat. I thought this was rude, especially they didn't know they are not allowed to carry water !!! All these, just to buy from their boat bar. Shame on their personnel!

If you are staying in marmaris don't take the dalyan trip.from marmaris it is a very long distance till you reach the turtle Beach where you see no turtles.then you take the boat for another long journey to jump into a very small mud bath pool.in genral this is a waste of time trip.
