Awarded AA Hotel of the Year Scotland, Fingal opened in January 2019 in the historic Port of Leith as a unique addition to Edinburgh’s hotel scene following a £5 million development. This former Northern Lighthouse Board ship, begins an exciting new chapter offering beautiful cabins, dining and entertaining space. Developed by The Royal Yacht Britannia, Fingal’s 22 luxury cabins are each named after Stevenson lighthouses, inspired by her rich maritime heritage. Sleek corridors lined with lighthouse images lead to the choice of cabins, from a luxury cabin with access to the deck, a duplex cabin with comfortable living space or the stunning Skerryvore Suite with extensive outdoor space to relax and entertain. Carefully considered design offers the highest specifications of craftmanship and finish, with nautical touches and polished woods. Sumptuous Scottish leathers and the finest linens are in colour palates inspired by Fingal’s journey from land and sea.

Show more...This place is out of this world. We stayed in a duplex cabin and had dinner. Honestly this is probably my favourite hotel ever. The staff couldn’t have been better. The food was exceptional and quite reasonable in price. The room was amazing and fabulous attention to detail. Absolutely loved it and we will be back.
Show more...From the moment we arrived until we left, my husband and I were treated like royalty. I had booked a two night stay as a surprise for hubby’s 50th birthday and opted to dine at the lighthouse restaurant for the night of his birthday which was absolutely fabulous, food was amazing and a surprise birthday dessert arrived for him. The entire ship is in impeccable 5 star condition with nothing spared. We stayed in a duplex cabin with sitting area upstairs with fully stocked fridge, coffee, tea etc. and bedroom/bathroom downstairs. The bathroom decor is amazing, with toiletries, robes etc which were so lovely. All staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, welcoming and knowledgeable with the history of their ship. Nothing was ever too much to ask of them. Our stay was truly memorable. Throughly recommend!

Show more...What a dream!! This hotel is so amazing. Definitely believe the hype. My partner and I were visiting Edinburgh for our honeymoon. We had booked 1 night at Fingal for the end of our trip to hopefully finish our adventure on a high note. And what a high note it was! This place is BEAUTIFUL. Our stay at Fingal is a memory we'll always cherish and we would highly recommend the hotel to others. To begin with, the staff are very welcoming and kind. From start to end, it was first class. Each room is named after a different lighthouse and the rooms all have their own individual name (which was super fun). When we arrived to our room, there was a handwritten welcome note and a box of chocolates. It made us feel very special. The shower/bathroom was also very impressive. It was gorgeously designed (great water pressure too) & I only wish I could take this bathroom home with me. They also had generous amounts of luxury shampoo, conditioner, & soap for guests to use during their stay. The towels were extremely soft. All this was greatly appreciated. The beds are also very comfortable. It felt like sleeping in a cloud. As part of your stay, you are also given free tickets to visit the Royal Yacht Britannia. Your tickets are not timed entry so you may use the tickets at any time during your stay to go and explore the Britannia for free. This was a wonderful highlight of our trip. We did eat at the Lighthouse restaurant on board, which was delicious. Breakfast is included in your stay and the quality of the food and service was very impressive. Overall, we had the most amazing time at Fingal & will always treasure our stay here.
Show more...Holding the no1 hotel spot on Tripadvisor led to me having high expectations but these were not only met, but well exceeded! From the moment we stepped on board to the moment we left, we were warmly looked after by polite, friendly, attentive staff. The room was lovely, well appointed and comfortable. A welcome note and lovely chocolates waiting for us us a nice touch. If I had to give a negative, it would be that there was a drain smell in the bathrooms but this can also be smelt outside due to the standing water of the docks I assume. We ate in the Lighthouse restaurant and we all agreed it was one of the best meals we've ever enjoyed, in beautiful, stylish surroundings. Tje surrounding area is quiet and peaceful. With a few bars and restaurants to choose from if you dont want to eat in the restaurant and it's the city centre is easily accessible by tram, with a stop a few minutes from the hotel. We've just found our only Edinburgh go to hotel now and are already planning when we'll next be back!

My wife and myself had the most fantastic nights stay. The staff were absolutely fantastic including arranging a table at their restaurant on arrival which we had been unable to do. The room didn’t disappoint from the heated bathroom floor and lovely features to the really comfy bed we couldn’t fault it. The restaurant was amazing the food was first class and perfection. We will certainly be booking a stay very soon and we cannot recommend this hotel experience enough. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
