As I reside in Fethiye I visit the Harbour on a regular basis a great place to enjoy the walk along the Kordon (Quay Side) with so many Cafe's and Restaurants to stop off for a drink ,snack or meal ..watch the world go past ..and see the many fabulous Gulets and Yachts..even book a day trip on one ..or catch the Water Taxi across the bay to Çalis..even find the famous Hello Bufe where you will see thousands of fish and feed them some Ekmek (bread)..All in all a great place to explore.
Show more...If you like walking, go to the harbour. The promenade stretches for miles and takes you right round to Calis. You will pass dozens of restaurants, bars etc. not to mention the hundreds of pleasure boats of all shapes and sizes just waiting to take holiday makers out on day trips or longer to the islands. A lovely way to spend a few hours on a beautiful day.
Show more...We took a boat from our hotel to the harbour and Tuesday market. 20 minutes in powerful and clean boat. Crew explained where old town was located and also market. Old town very clean with historical churches and houses. Market well laid out under cover. Leather is a particular good buy. Traders friendly and good prices if you bargained with them. Had beer in local restaurant before catching boat back to hotel. A very interesting day out.
Show more...We travelled to the port by ferry from our hotel . We disembarked onto a lovely stretch of quayside full of vessels. It was a lovely stroll round the quay observing fisherman and all the hustle and bustle. . It is a busy thriving port surrounded by shops, restaurants. and bars. We had drinks local to the port and did some great shopping in the area before returning for our ferry back to our hotel.
Show more...After reading all the fabulous reviews on trip advisor we booked a 12 islands cruise of 4 days/3 nights. We booked the cruise well in advance in the spring for a date in October and had regular email contact with Roz. The price of the cruise was much more than other blue cruise companies advertised, but we thought that it might be money well paid if we did more, and the quality of the food and accommodation was much better than competitors.
However, alarm bells started ringing when only a few weeks before our departure date we received an email from Roz saying that our family cabin that we had booked was no longer available. Roz said that we would be better on their other boat, but in 2 separate cabins as the other was now full of partying Australians and so would not be suitable for our young family. We thought this was reasonable and so went with it.
When we turned up in Fethyie on the morning, we found the 'before lunch' boat who told us we were on another boat moored in the harbour. This was not a 'before lunch' boat, but a Bulut Yaghting boat, which is a completely separate company. If I wanted Bulut yaghting I would have booked direct, probably at a cheaper rate.
'Before Lunch' website mentions the words quality, spotlessly clean and comfortable. The boat was OK, but certainly not of any better standard than other Blue Cruise boats. It was more on the scruffy side, and as it was October we did use the cabins which were really poor. The bed linen looked like an old reclaimed 1970's set of curtains and to make matters work water poored in to the cabin when it rained from the deck above, so we had a couple of nights sleeping on a wet mattress.
As far as the itinary of the 12 islands that blue cruise advertise, we certainly didn't do it. Over the 3 days we probably moored up in about 3-4 different bays and didn't set foot on ground once to go for a walk. We couldn't have done anyway as the tender boat/rib was partially flat. A few of the passengers complained that we weren't 'sailing' anywhere and we just motored round the corner to the next bay. For half an hour, the captain managed to placate them by flying the Gib (small sail at the front of the boat)and said boat wasn't good for sailing as it was too heavy. Being a sailor I know this was rubbish, as he could have used all 3 sails, but of course would have needed more crew.
In addition the drinks were also failrly expensive. Think of the normal price in Turkish Lira, then add a Euro sign on and this is what was charged, many passengers were stung at the end of the trip, even orange juice at breakfast and afternoon coffee was charged for.
On a plus note, the 2 crew were lovely, very inconspicuous and the food was good and plentiful. However, even taking the food and crew into consideration I can't help but give this no more than 2 stars, especially taking into consideration the money they charge compared to their competitors. This is definately not a 'luxury' version for a blue cruise, and if you want to see any sights, whether land or sea based this is not an option. If you want to spend over the odds on a mediocre boat, see and do nothing except drink expensive drinks then this is the cruise for you.
My husband and i took this trip with "Before Lunch" on the Roz - we had read many positive reviews on trip advisor - but our trip was not very pleasant.
We were the last cruise of the season and the captain Ahmet was so grumpy that we were treated at best like unwelcome guests. The boat is not "immaculate" as claimed on their website - we had to sleep with our window and our door open because the smell in our cabin was so bad - and it was way too cold to sleep on the deck - and something happened that was extremely unprofessional. On the last night of our 4 day trip, an elderly guest became quite ill and the captain would not answer the loud and frantic knocking on his door - he let his younger brother Sunny (who's english was not very good) handle the situation by rummaging in the ill equipped first aid kit. Luckily another passenger had the meds that the guest needed (we had 3 doctors on board including the person who was ill) - the Captain could not have cared less - he never did come out to see what was going on. I wrote to Roz (co-owner of the boat) and told her what had happened - and I fully understand that neither the captain nor the crew can administer medicine, but for the Captain to not even come out to see what was going on is unforgivable. I told Roz that I was going to write this review, and she said that they were a small company and a bad review would hurt business, but I think people need to know about our experience. We did not get a discount because it was the last cruise of the season and the captain was tired, so I think we should have gotten the lovely experience that everyone else has written about. We own a boat, and love to be on the water, but we could not wait to get off this boat. Other guests felt the same, that the captain was surly and uncommunicative. Two months has passed since our trip and I am still disappointed with the treatment we received. They did take us to some lovely anchorages and the food was ok -and Sunny did his best to lighten the mood - and our fellow travelers were wonderful, but i would not recommend this trip.
What a disappointment! Ahmed the skipper was in a bad mood for 6 days. Grunts and outright rudeness to everyone. After one fight his crewman jumped overboard in protest; I must say we considered it too. The boat, Ros, is shabby, poorly renovated by a handyman rather than a craftsman. Drinks, including water, are overpriced.Couldn't believe when Ahmed put up a note saying he expected a 20% tip!
Fethiye and the coastline are however stunning and worth a visit.
A few years ago it was much like any other harbour in the world. Then it has a total revamp with fountains and decorative areas which make it more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. It is a perfect place to get yourself a boat trip although I would recommend getting to the harbour before 10am as you may miss most of the 12 Island trips. If you decide to go to Fethiye Market on a Tuesday then if you haven't bought too many presents then I would recommend a walk along Fethiye Harbour from the market end. There are countless bars and restaurants to grab a coffee or food. Only one thing I miss was the old Pelican Bar where my wife and I would sit and have a Turkish coffee whilst a pair of pelicans would waddle in between the tables and pull all the paper services out of the holder and onto the floor. Unfortunately this cafe made way for progress. Overall a beautiful place to visit.
Show more...Fethiye is lovely, very up market, I, as a lady In my early 60’s felt quite happy wondering around the shops while my other half sat in the shade in the Genis bar waiting for the water taxi to return.

We went here by taxi from the garcia resort hotel approx 350tl or 10 english, we went on a saturday afternoon and had a nice easy day, i even had a Turkish shave in the barbers which is done properly here at a cost of only 100tl or £3.50 we also walked to the outskirts of town to get something to eat as i like to eat local when out and about on holiday
Show more...This town has plenty to offer and prices get cheaper the further away from the port you walk! When you see all prices in tl you are out of the tourist section and the prices are a lot less here! Also the carvings in the cliff face is a must see and imagine how this was completed all those years ago
We also passed through this town from a boat trip in the evening and it was all a buzz and lit up everywhere and you dont have to worry about safety it felt very safe so if you have a few hours take the trip and enjoy
