Middlethorpe Hall & Spa

Wonderful visit. We went for my Husbands birthday, we got a 40% discount offer with a free bottle of Fizz in the room which made it excellent value and a really nice experience. We stopped in one of the main house rooms which was very spacious and spotlessly clean. For dinner we had the tasting menu with matched wines which was all excellent, the dining room was lovely no piped music just lovely and quiet, breakfast was also very good and generous in quantity - again lovely and quiet which is what breakfast should be like. Well managed, with well trained, happy welcoming staff

Thank you so much for making my mothers 80th birthday so special. It was just a perfect day. You and the Chef were so accommodating with all our requests and I know it wasn’t a easy list of dietary requirements, the chef when out of his way to cook the most delicious food for us all, everyone was so happy with their meals. The venue and the pineapple room was a perfect size for our family, lovely decor, light and view over the garden. The staff were all so welcoming, and extremely professional with the service of lunch. We can’t thank you enough for such a great day! Please do pass on my thanks to all the staff that made our day so special.

Highly recommend. Absolutely loved our time there. Awesome room and food. And wonderful staff. Great location so close to the city of York but far enough away to feel like your in the country. Loved the history of the hotel and the privacy of our suite.

After another lovely stay at Middlethorpe Hall it was great to see that after so many years of visiting the Hotel the very high standards have been maintained. The staff as always were both friendly and professional and work hard to make all of the guests feel welcome and at ease. Our room was presented to the usual high standard and extremely warm and comfortable for our winter stay. The simplified menu in place for a Monday and Tuesday evening on the face of it may appear a little basic, however the food as always was of an extremely high standard and presented by the restaurant staff with the same care and attention as the main dinner menu served during our previous stays. We look forward to our next visit to the Hotel which has become our go to place for a chance to unwind and relax.

I purchased a gift package last year which my wife chose to use this weekend. We started with some great treatments in the spa ( deep tissue massage and rose facial for my wife) before heading into the hotel to book into room 1 which is super comfortable with a whopping 4 poster bed. We went for a walk into Bishopsgate and you can go down to the river. We dined in the hotel and opted for the tasting menu and wine flight. The meal was absolutely sumptuous (one of the best I have ever had) and the wine which came with the meal was well chosen. Maybe the staff could have explained why the wine choices had been made for each dish ( but I’m quibbling here). We felt the staff and facilities and fine dining were super and would love to return in the future ( brekkie was top notch too!).

Absolutely delightful stay we were made very welcome by all the staff. We had our own cottage with a lovely sitting room with a fire and beautifully decorated Christmas tree with lights. Harry the dog was also welcomed, they don’t usually allow dogs in the main hotel but made an exception for him and the staff even provided him with his own goody bag of rare roast beef, slices of ham and a large amount of fresh salmon We will return!

You are made to feel like royalty before you even get through the door & throughout your stay. We have had dinner & Afternoon Tea here many times. And enjoyed the spa & treatments. Excellent. Absolutely beautiful gardens. Looking forward to our next visit!

Wonderful stay with my wife for both our birthdays - 2 days apart. Thank you so much to the hotel's General Manager Lionel and his team for the warmest of welcomes - we left Middlethorpe feeling thoroughly spoiled and revitalised. We stayed in the Sir Henry Thompson suite - super-king sized bed with acres of space, fab bathroom and decor plus living space to just relax in peace and quiet. Dining is sophisticated but unstuffy, food is outstanding and the staff are equally warm and welcoming without being over-familar - the marque of a well trained team. Just perfect, thank you everyone. Looking forward to many more stays here!

We have stayed here on numerous occasions and most recently for Christmas. It is such a wonderful experience. The food is superb, staff are so helpful and friendly. We are always made so welcome. The rooms are spotlessly clean.
