Show more...I went for Sunday lunch here with my friend and it was absolutely delicious. We both had the parfait to start which was really lovely served with a mini brioche loaf and then we both had the roast pork Sunday lunch. This was served with the MOST amazing roast potatoes which were the BEST! It was also served with truffle cauliflower cheese, fresh greens, Yorkshire pudding and veg. I had a lovely glass of rose Cote de Provence wine, which washed things down very well! Would highly recommend! Next time, I think my friend and I would share a starter and then share a dessert as we missed out on dessert as we were a little too full! That's only because the roast was amazing. The dessert menu looked amazing!
Show more...Just returned from a one night's stay at this hotel with my partner and can honestly say that there was nothing I could fault from this place. Unfortunately only stayed for one night as meeting friends elsewhere. Everything was perfect for us, from the location, the fantastic staff, the beautiful room, the breakfast and of course the amazing building and gardens. Thank you very much for making us feel so welcome in your beautiful hotel and we will be returning in the near future.
Show more...Stayed as a couple and had an absolutely wonderful time in the restaurant. The chef, Ian Doyle, had put on a 10 course Taster Menu with an accompanying Wine Flight. I’ve eaten in some very reputable places (Ramsay, Marco Pierre White, Heston B et al) and Ian’s menu is every bit as tasty, satisfying and interesting. Just a lovely experience. The hotel is in a very historic building and the Owner, Helen Heraty is an impressive woman, a magnificently strong and resolute example for others to follow. This place is a gem.
Show more...Really beautiful hotel with quality staff, rooms and food. There really isn’t anything I could find that was negative about this hotel. Booking the car parking was really worth it. Breakfast was really good and better quality than most hotel breakfasts at a 5* standard. Location is brilliant and central.
Show more...When entering the Grays Court Hotel courtyard you cannot help but be taken in and become part of the history of this fabulous building. It is truly amazing when you take a second to think about it and who has crossed the threshold of this historic house over the centuries, just breathtaking. From the moment we stepped through the door the level of service and the friendly welcome from Suzanna in reception, Helen the owner and all the staff that we met on our short break was second to non and very much appreciated. This was our fourth visit over the past few years and we were fortunate enough to have stayed in the Cumberland room this time which was beautifully and tastefully decorated and the added bonus of having this particular room is the stunning views from the windows out onto the hotel gardens and historic York wall which is magical especially this time of year with the early morning frosts. We stayed for two nights 17th to 19th January 2024 and had breakfast on both days. The food was excellent, very tasty with good quality ingredients we felt and beautifully presented especially the scrambled egg and smoked salmon and the staff were very friendly and chatty too which we liked. We are so glad we found this magical hotel, it really is unique and has so much history just a stones throw away from the centre of York and the Minster. It has become our little haven in the city and we cannot wait to return hopefully very soon!
Show more...A very nice hotel, located just by York minister in a wonderful little court yard. We stayed for my husband's birthday and the staff were attentive and added little details that made the stay really nice. We are the first night at the bow restaurant in the hotel and the food was delicious.
Show more...Stayed at Greys court 16th to 18th December. So impressed by the building itself which was so in keeping with its age and history yet the bedrooms were modern and so comfortable. We stayed in the De Montfort room which was excellent Also,we were most impressed by the quality of the staff who were friendly, pleasant, efficient, everything you could possibly want and there was always someone there when required. The breakfast menu initially seemed limited but in reality you could have anything you wanted. We loved the quenelles of butter, no nasty packets! All in all a memorable stay and will certainly visit again
Show more...Our 3rd visit here over the lead up to Christmas. Beautiful hotel in lovely hidden area around d the corner from the monster. Very friendly helpful staff. Nothing is too much. Top class fixtures & furnishings, comfortable & cosy. Back next year!
Show more...Fantastic building and entrance to the rear of York Minster. Ate in the Bow Room (tasting menu and wine pairing). The service was excellent and the pace of delivery for what is a long list was just right. It was not that busy (10 out of 16 covers). The food was imaginative and tasty (couple of vegetable courses were a little disappointing) and the wine pairings generally did their job. Expensive (but not as expensive as others) and for the experience value for money.
