Show more...I rarely write a review but for this hotel I have to . We went for just one night (it was Valentine;s day but that was a coincidence) and although we travel a lot all over the world ( particularly short city trips) I cannot remember a better all round experience, Every member of staff from reception to room service waiter to bar staff were incredibly friendly, efficient, helpful and professional. We had a room service supper it arrived very promptly and was hot and delicious. The room was absolutely fabulous and nothing was too much trouble. My husband said ‘ it would be worth going to Belfast just to stay at this hotel!’ Honestly, I can’t recommend too highly .
Show more...Our go to in Belfast, we always go back to this hotel, on arrival we were met by Ella who was very friendly and welcoming, we received a complimentary upgrade to the CS Lewis Suite. The room was huge and located in the original part of the hotel. Thank you very much for the upgrade. We have had a fantastic time from start to finish as usual. We had a lovely breakfast both mornings and spent a few hours in the cocktail bar on our first night amd second night they made cocktails for us that were not on the menu which was great. Looking forward to coming back again.
Show more...Lovely hotel and the restaurant was excellent however after waiting 45 minutes for service in Bert's bar we gave up and went to the second bar. We were told it is a fully seated bar and there were no seats available. So we were unable to have a drink after paying for a 5 star experience.
Show more...Just back from a Fantastic stay at The Merchant Hotel. From the moment we walked through thr door we were greeted with a friendly smile from Rosin who was so helpful and kind and gave us a beautiful room. Amir at front of house was very attentive and polite too. The Breakfast was first class, the food was so fresh and natural especially the muesli. The staff at breakfast were so attentive and even when we were leaving the Great Room they all came out and wished us a good day, which was a lovely touch. This is our 3rd time staying at The Merchant. I would highly recommend it If you want to experience been treated like Royalty. So Thankyou to all the staff and to Louise who look after me with my reservation.
Show more...We stayed overnight in The Merchant, looking forward to breakfast, ordered our food, got served Coffe, juice, toast and muesli, we then waited and waited and waited, 1 hour later we asked a waiter if we had been forgotten about, he went away to check and never came back, we then asked another member of staff for an update and were told “chef is cooking your food”, we left totally disappointed in the lack of service, we have now been offered a paltry £45.00 voucher to spend in the hotel, to say we feel insulted is understated , we have refused the offer.
Show more...Stayed here last weekend the hotel was excellent and Reception staff Were very pleasant. We stayed in a delux room which was excellent. Was disappointed that there was only one biscuit each, no other titbits And the mini bar fridge was empty. Have stayed in lesser hotels and been more complementary biscuits and crisps.
Show more...Good check-in..we had room 533 which is a lovely spacious room..the ironing board cover is awful, very stained. Nice bathroom products. We had a 3 course dinner in the Great Room..all lovely apart from my husbands venison..inedible..when we complained the chef agreed and we were offered complimentary tea or coffee which we declined. We had a bottle of wine and there is a service charge of £8 which we thought was extortionate. We spent the evening in berts next door and when we received our bill there was a few items which weren't ours, but barman sorted it out. Breakfast was very nice..staff are lovely..when we told reception when checking out about the poor dinner they waived the carpark charge. We love this hotel, but standards have slipped since our last stay.
Show more...Absolutely beautiful hotel! One of the best we have stayed in. Patricia was very helpful on check in. We had a complimentary upgrade on check in that is always a lovely surprise. The room was spacious , added touches such as makeup mirror and a bottle of chilled Prosecco were great added extras. We didn’t dine at the hotel but we did have breakfast and it was plentiful , excellent choice and served promptly. The great room is a stunning room with a lovely vibe. The decor, wonderful staff and the service we were provided with really added to our experience. Thank you for a wonderful birthday night away ! We cannot wait to visit again.
Show more...Celebrating another birthday 🎈 Went to the Merchant for my husband's special birthday. We were greeted by friendly reception staff Roisin & Amy who gave us their full attention. Covered all the details we needed to know like use of the facilities and where we would get breakfast next morning, also we had booked dinner in Bert's confirmed our time for dinner. We booked an Art Deco room with Twin beds which were very spacious and had an excellent view over the City. We made use of the hot tub & Sauna which was very relaxing. Dinner in Bert's did not disappoint either the usual high service with out being too overpowering. Food was excellent we had Mussels to start and Fish (Cod) for our mains and I finished off with Creme Brulee which was a little different as I'd never had a chocolate one before but very tasty. The music was fantastic rounding off a lovely stay. Can't wait until our next stay .

Arrived early evening and was greeted at reception by Larissa who was very friendly and helpful pointing out different areas around the hotel to eat and drink. This was our first time in Belfast. We were given an upgrade to a suite which was very spacious and greatly appreciated. Ate in the Cloth Cap (part of the hotel) 0n our first evening where I had the most delicious Seafood Chowder I have ever tasted. The next evening we spent time in the hot tub on the roof chatting to other guests who had all been to the hotel before and rated it highly. It was good to see that time spent in the hot tub was monitored by staff allowing eveyone time to enjoy the experience. Staff were very helpful, courteous and friendly. Look forward to returning to this beautiful hotel.
