The Boatyard Distillery is an award winning farm-to-bottle distillery located on the banks of Lough Erne in north west Ireland. Only the best organic ingredients have been chosen for each of our products with the terroir of the land at the forefront of each new spirit. The distillery is open for tours twice per day Wednesday to Sunday. 3 cocktails and 3 neat samples is provided along with a full size personalised bottle of gin which you must sign and label by hand at the end of the tour.
Show more...We visited The Boatyard Distillery on Sat 19th Sept and took the 12pm time slot. We were lucky with the weather as the location and view is stunning. Stanley was our host and we could not have expected more from a visit.
Stanley gave a great history of the distillery as well as a very interesting insight on their process and history. It was delivered at a good pace and with good humour.
As we went during the Covid 19, the distillery had planned for this and ensured a clean space, plenty of social distancing and we felt 100% comfortable at all times.
The value is superb for what you get and to label and take away your own bottle at the end was the icing on the cake.
Highly recommend for people who enjoy gin or distillery's in general.
What a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours in an amazing picturesque setting, being educated and entertained at the same time. This is a small, relatively new distillery but it certainly did not disappoint. Our guide, Josh, was entertaining and knowledgeable. He definitely made our day. We were given a G&T to start and then had some “nose and taste” testing, before heading off on a tour of the small business. This was followed by a trip to the boathouse and then back again for an amazing gin cocktail. I would totally recommend this to anyone visiting the Enniskillen area (unfortunately my husband drove so didn’t get much tasting 😂)! We got to sign our labels and stick them onto the bottles which was fun after a couple of gins. Unfortunately they can’t sell gin from the premises to customers at present but we were able to purchase glasses and chocolate! Plenty of other merchandise available there too. We did go away with a 70cl bottle which is part of the cost of the visit and then stopped at a centra in enniskillen and purchased a bottle of Old Tom gin to add to the collection! I’ll definitely come back!
Show more...We had a great experience at Boatyard Distillery - there is a jetty where you can moor and plenty of parking space if you’re coming by car. Stanley’s presentation is fun, full of interesting facts and the odd yarn as well! The tasting room is beautiful and looks into the distillery through glass panels. It’s not the biggest of places but the story of its inception and current growth is wonderful to hear for a local producer. The visit is really great value - included in the price are three cocktails using the Boatyard gin. They all were delicious. And then you get to label and take your own bottle of gin home. We loved our visit, enjoyed the gin and thought Stanley was a hoot. We would recommend to anyone who is visiting Fermanagh- go and support a local producer!
Show more...We did the boatyard distillery gin tour last Saturday and it was a brilliant experience. Stanley was a great host. The tour is good value as you get 3 drinks as part of the tour and then a full bottle of gin with your own label on it. We will definitely return and do another tour when the next phase of redevelopment of the boatyard shed is completed. We were staying in Enniskillen and our hotel booked us a taxi out to the distillery, there was 4 of us and taxi was £19 one way and took about 15 minutes. Would highly recommend the boatyard distillery tour and wish them best wishes for their future plans. Oh by the way the gin is lovely!
Show more...Stanley was an excellent, highly knowledgeable tour guide and this was a wonderful experience.
The tour started with being welcomed with a G&T and being seated at a stunning live edge table. Stanley was charming and regaled us with a fascinating history of how the brand came into existence, peppering the story of Joe’s business with his signature humour and vivacity.
We then moved on to the tasting experience, which consisted of three of the flagship drinks: their original gin, vodka and their ‘Old Tom’. Stanley explained the different ingredients, the flavours, how they add to the gin, the owner’s journey of trialling different ingredients and his working with a botanist to find a local ingredient that would add to the flavour of the gin. It was truly inspiring to hear of their endeavours to make the brand as sustainable and zero waste as possible and their commitment to sourcing organic ingredients for their products.
Next, we went into the room with the distilling machine and got to see how it worked, before being taken back out to try an Old Tom & tonic mixture and try our hands at labelling our own 70cl bottle of gin (each - making the tour a bargain when you factor in the cost of buying one of these bottles).
Then we went down to the warehouse, learned more about their production, how long certain products such as their vodka have to sit before the distilling process can begin, what happens their “wasted” wheat and how some local cows are made very happy, and saw the labelling process done by the professionals.
Upon return to the main area, we got presented with a delicious gin cocktail and chatted to Stanley some more before the completion of the tour. He was a fabulous tour guide who answered all of our annoying questions with ease, showcasing his knowledge with charisma.
This was a wonderful experience and I could easily see this as not just a fun excursion for couples but for a classy stag or hen party activity!
Very informative tour from a tour guide that is passionate about his work. The samples were brilliant and the additional Gin & Tomic on arrival along with a cocktail and a Gin and Gingerale was a nice touch. An experience unlike other distilleries / breweries with the chance to label your own gin to take home with you.
Highly recommend if you’re in the area. We stayed in Bundoran and it’s only a 30 minute drive, worth it
This tour and tasting experience has to be one my sister and my favourites so far! Location = beautiful. Staff = friendly, inviting and brilliant storytellers. The gins, cocktails and long drinks = a real testiment to the local produce of our wee country and we were bowled away with the great selection we got to sample (why you need your stomach lined). We will be recommending this to every gun lover we know. Can't wait to head back to try out the exciting new things to come!
Show more...This is our second visit, the first being back in 2017 and this time we brought some wider family with us. The tour is a magical way to spend a few hours sampling the product, learning about the product and hearing how the business has evolved. Our host - Stanley - was simply first class; from his warm welcome through his detailed yet crystal clear explanations of how it all happens, all delivered with such a courteous sense of humourthank you! I really can't recommend a visit to the Boatyard Distillery strongly enough and I wish them all every success with their ambitious redevelopment plansI look forward to visiting again by boat!
Show more...The best 2 hours I ever spent. I am a gin lover, and this tour was great craic!! The staff are lovely, the drink flows and the tour is very interesting. It took just over 2 hours, although I think it is normally 90 mins, but due to covid they have to separate the groups. DO NOT DRIVE HERE!! A taxi from Enniskillen centre cost us £20 and it was worth it so we could enjoy the brilliant variety of tasters, cocktails and more that you get on this tour. It is well worth the visit and the price!!

This was an incredibly interesting tour of a gin distillery. The guide, Stanley, is effortlessly entertaining and interesting. He absolutely captivated the audience with the story of Boatyard Gin's origins. We knew nothing about this tour other than we had told it was something we must include on our trip to Fermanagh so we were surprised at how much of a bargain this day was. There were three very delicious drinks throughout the tour and each member of our party left with a bottle. Boatyard have a lot of excellent ideas for expanding their business and we will be back in a few years to see the work they've done converting the boathouse and take the tour again.
