The magnificent 18th-century mansion and landscape park Experience the stately grandeur of this stunning 18th-century mansion set in a beautiful wooded landscape park ideal for family walks. Castle Coole is one of Ireland's finest Neo-classical houses, allowing visitors to glimpse what life was like in the home of the Earls of Belmore. Discover the story of the people who lived and worked below stairs as you explore the splendid suite of servants rooms and service quarters of this magnificent property.
Show more...We got a warm welcome from the gatekeeper . the house is closed and there's only one toilet per gender onsite open.
The park is large so social distancing is easy. They operate a one way system on the walks but the signage is poor and insufficient to enable you to make an informed choice about how long the routes are and what time they will take to walk. The walk its self round the lake was pretty boring to be honest.
We are Royal Oak members, which partners with the National Trust, so admission was covered by our membership fee. We arrived just as it was opening, and were fortunate to be able to book the first tour of the day.
The tour was quite extensive, and we were in the house for at least an hour. Several of the rooms were open during our visit, and we learned that there was a connection between this manor house and the nearby Florence Court.
The grounds are vast, and one could certainly walk down to the lough, but we did not stay long enough to do so.
This is a must see in Fermanagh. The house is stunning and beautiful. I did not expect this and would encourage everyone to see this place. the neo classical architecture and furnishings are so interesting. The tour guide was very good and brought the history of the place and people alive. I would have liked maybe a bit more time in the house as there is so much to take in and look at. I will definitely go back again for another look next time I visit Ireland. The servants tunnel under the house and out to the stable is crazy! A snapshot of how people lived!
Sadly there was not enough time to walk to the lake and I think you really need to put aside the best part of a day to see everything.
Very enjoyable visit today. Our guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant and really looked after my husband with mobility issues by providing a chair in each room so he could listen to the information in comfort. Tea room afterwards also recommended and there is a beautiful walk round the lake to enjoy.
Show more...Very disappointed with the visit, very little flora or fauna apart from the abundant nettles along the pathways. Only one seat too which wasn't great for my elderly companion. No planting/bedding/gardens to view and house was closed due to covid 19. Very boring trail and the lake walk only really had one good viewpoint. Lots of overgrown trees and not much else of interest. Crom castle is exceptional compared to here for the same price.
Show more...Castle coole is a beautiful, well presented National Trust property. The staff and volunteers are a credit to NT as they put so much effort and pride into taking care of this jewel of Fermanagh. Short walk around the lake or take a longer walk around the forest and house, coffee shop also, and so much more. Definitely worth a visit.
Show more...First come, first served for house tour. We arrived at 11AM opening and went on the first 11:30 tour. Such a great story of the house and it's design elements. How about a tunnel entrance to under the house so when you come back from fox hunting you can take a bath before rejoining family? There is a coffee shop for lunch.
Show more...This National Trust property is magnificent. Access to the house is just by organised tours - extra charge. Efforts were made to ensure social distancing. The tour was a little too long but the guides very knowledgeable and friendly.
The grounds provide for nice walks
The cafe is in a pleasant space but there is outdoor seating too. The toasted sandwiches were decent but pricey. They were only using disposable crockery which is not very nice but understandable during the end of a pandemic
Noelle was our tour guide and she was FABULOUS!
We arrived with a group of 7 including 3 Autistic children. The tour, taken by Noelle, was warm, informative, well paced out and Noelle made sure that our children's needs were met. Without even being asked! She was just lovely.
For the duration of the tour we all felt like we were visiting a friends home. She was so welcoming. The history was given to us in an informative but friendly manner, the children's attention was kept for the entire tour and all questions were answered.
Look out for a little black spirit dog! 🐕

Sadly, wouldn't recommend. House closed (which I knew before going) but expected a bit more from the walks which were fairly dull - not much to see, just a lot of overgrowth. There's a one way system in place which makes everything just a bit more inconvenient. I understand Covid-19 restrictions in place but this is out of doors on fairly broad pathways.
