I have passed the sign for this castle dozens of times and now regret never visiting before.

This is an extremely well maintained site with a small cottage converted into a visitor/information center, with toilets at the entrance. The castle ruins are well presented with small but neat formal gardens.
A large parking area and lots of open grass area for play/picnic. Tarmac road and path around visitor center for access, 50yds of cobble-like path up to Castle would be bumpy but not impossible for wheelchair access.
Follow the gravel path down to the edge of the lough, take time to include a short walk along the waters edge path to add stunning views.
This stop was thoroughly enjoyed by my young children with a variety of scenery and sights to occupy them.

Easily the best stop on the west shore of Lower Lough Erne for a break and picnic.

Tully castle is a small structure on the Shore Road between Enniskillen and Belleek. It would be easy to miss the entrance as it is just after a bad bend. But you must call in. The ruins of Tully Castle have been made user friendly with the erection of a sturdy metal staircase to enable you to see the site plan and castle interior effectively. The little cottage used as a tourist centre allows the visitor to read up about the Castle's history before reaching it. An old musket,a costume and various maps and a few toys for the children to use create the anticipation of what they are about to see. The quiet, calm landscape is sharp contrast to the massacre that happened here in 1641. After the tarmaced car park the path becomes gravelly and then, on nearing the ruins is difficult underfoot. It basically is the perimeter of the old castlelarge foundation stones with cement in between. Infirm or wheelchair bound would have great difficulty at this point. Being local I have not visited here for a couple of years and was so disappointed to witness what once was a beautifully tended box garden filled with flowers and herbs now reduced to weeds and coarse grass. Such a shame! Had it even been levelled and set to lawn the the upkeep would have been easier and proved much more inviting for our visitors? That said, the castle is open inside now and children would love the vantage points it offers. The surrounding countryside and the lake views are magnificent. Well worth a visit and free admission.
