Four Star Country House
Show more...Absolutely brilliant venue for you dream fairy tale wedding! This venue is beautiful with it's gardens, fountains and the lake at the back. It is close enough to Nottingham City Centre to experience it, but tucked away enough to feel like you are away from the hustle and bustle. The venue is so quiet and peaceful, no matter the season, day or time (we visited it a lot throughout the planning process). The poems and quotes around the venue add an elegance and character to the building that other venues do not have. Upon arrival at the venue, you are greeted by beautiful gardens and an impressive water fountain (which is fantastic for photographs). The whole venue is breath-taking, with its marble staircases and mirror hallway that are perfect for photo opportunities. The ceremony room as standard with no decoration is gorgeous with its pillars covered in fairy lights, murals on the ceiling, draping, chandeliers, vases of flowers in all 4 corners and cream leather chairs, we didn't hire a decor company and didn't feel we needed one. The price for the wedding was straight forward with no hidden fees. The team were flexible to our needs enabling us to upgrade and change details of the package should we need it. Weddings here are luxurious but affordable and we highly recommend considering it for your special event. Thank you, Megan Beers, the sales manager, for always being there by email or in person to help me, a very particular, perfectionist of a bride, with my weird requests and to answer my plethora of strange questions! You were so lovely throughout and you brought a sense of calm to what could have been an overwhelming process and day. It was lovely having you there to help support us. You are tremendous at your job and you can tell it is your true calling. Selva and the general manager for the wedding (I am so sorry, I'm terrible with names) were a delight and couldn't do enough for us! They were a stickler for detail which made me very happy as I love the finer details. They always had a smile when approached and couldn't do enough for us and our guests. Guests could not speak more highly of the team on our day. Every part of the day was checked with us to check we were happy before proceeding which was very important to us. Harry was great at fulfilling our requests and listening to us when we needed it. He was also great at communicating what was happening, when and why. Communication with all of the team was clear and thorough so we knew what was happening where and when throughout the whole process. Everything was done with speed and precision. Waiting times at transitions were quick and smooth. The team were all so professional, friendly and approachable. The bar staff were lovely with lots of drink choices at our private bar and the waiting staff were professional and smart too, delivering food quickly and with a smile. The food was so so delicious and cooked to perfection, served in a very timely manner, which made the hungry guests very happy! Every table had their food at the same time to keep timings fluent. The food was such good quality and very filling, all the guests were raving about it and still are! The team catered for dietary needs and allergens with no fuss and had delicious alternatives for all. The buffet was exquisite and presented beautifully. There was so much value for your money. We just wish we weren't so full so we could have eaten more! We requested his and hers cookies, which were baked that morning instead of canapes. The cookies and hot chocolate were a hit and they went down very well with all guests young and old! Perfect for our chilly winter wedding and very unique to us too. All of our requests were followed to the letter. The fishbowls we used for the centre pieces had price stickers on which were hard to remove, so we gave up on them, yet the team managed to get them all off to make the tables look gorgeous. Even down to putting batteries in fairy lights and turning on the flashing glow sticks in the evening! No job was insignificant to the team. We requested a first look which the venue suggested many private, beautiful areas to film it. We also requested a private final last dance which the venue supported us with. Matt, the recommended DJ was fantastic. He had clear communication from the beginning and tailored the music right down to every last request. 3 months before the wedding we sent him an A4 page of requests from us and the guests and he played every single one. He also played every song requested by the guests on the night too. His lights made the party so much fun! He also didn't talk over the songs or sing along like some wedding DJ's are known to do which meant we could thoroughly enjoy each song. Alternatively, if a song wasn't hitting the "vibe" quite right, he would change it seamlessly. Matt also hosted our shoe game (Mr and Mrs style) reading the questions and making it so hilarious. He was great at announcements for transitions such as the buffet being open or politely informing people to leave the room for our private last dance. Matt is competitively priced, polite, kind, professional and down to earth and we would highly recommend him at your wedding. Room 103 was gorgeous and we loved staying there. It was so private and a little slice of luxury that we really needed and loved, both for the bridal party preparations and the wedding night. It was also cleaned and turned over very quickly and efficiently to an impeccable standard with many amenities (and lots of tea and coffee!!). We loved how much storage space there was too! You all did so brilliantly and it was a dream come true and more. We (and our guests) cannot stop talking about it! No job or request was too much or too strange and your team were an absolute credit to the hotel. Even the lady who cleaned in the morning was a delight to chat to, I loved having our early morning wedding chats! (Unfortunately, I didn't get her name). I had guests singing all of your praises and some thinking of booking events at your hotel! Throughout the whole weekend we felt like true royalty! Every bride deserves to feel how I felt that day. It is so heart-warming how much you all genuinely care and never ever change that ethic. All in all, we loved every second and would do it all again if we could (vow renewal??). Thank you so so so so much. Words cannot express our gratitude enough. We are so happy to have chosen your hotel as our wedding venue.
Show more...We were greeted with a warm welcome. The room was beautiful and clean. Everywhere was well kept. It was peaceful and check out time was not rushed at 11am. The full English breakfast was excellent and cooked to perfection. Compliments to the chef. Really enjoyed our stay and will return

Show more...Great place with style and character. Good food, friendly staff, nice bar. It's close to Nottingham centre but feels like it's in the countryside as it's surrounded by lakes and parks. Quite pricey but worth it...
Show more...Our 3 night stay was a catalogue of errors, poor service and poor facilities. Check in went well, with a friendly receptionist, but when we left reception to go to our “suite” we were greeted with a stale, musty smell on the Grand Staircase. This smell, we later realised was from the kitchen and permeated into our “suite”. The sme was so bad that we left our windows open for the full duration of our stay. Without dwelling too much on each issue: One of the robes in our ‘suite” was covered in makeup and had to be exchanged on arrival. Bar staff are unable to follow their own book on how to make gin…wrong mixers and garnish. The bathroom door handle was hanging off. Fire doors were left propped open with fire extinguishers. The Grand Staircase is used as a dumping ground for spare chairs and looks scruffy. Restaurant staff were woefully badly trained, with one waitress repeatedly taking her hair down and then tying it up again, and no idea about how to serve customers. The restaurant manager was rude, leaving guests to fend for themselves at breakfast, and looked like he had slept in his clothes, with trousers so badly creased I doubt they have ever been near an iron. The “suite” had no curtains, just wooden shutters, which look nice but do nothing to block the light from the multiple spot lights illuminating the front of the building and are on all night, resulting in strips of light across the room. Not good if you prefer to sleep in a dark room. Food in the restaurant was tasty, but did not match the description, or the price tag. The “suite” was superficially clean, but corners of the room and next to furniture were dusty and needed a deep clean. The “suite” was actually just a large room, with a separate bathroom. Window frames were rotten and covered in mould and mildew. The only positive for us was the friendly reception staff. For us, this was like a poorly run guest house, not a 4* hotel. The place is in serious need of a major overhaul.
Show more...Great wedding reception. Perfect setting for a small intimate family wedding we attended on the 15th feb 24 . Helpful friendly staff and a great service .Having been before we recommended to other family members and were not disappointed. Definitely check out this venue for hosting any event and the different packages available .
Show more...Me and the husband went for a Bridgeton afternoon tea. On first impressions it was ok. When you started to look closer though that’s where cracks could be seen. Food was ok nothing memorable. The table was way too small for two people, it would have been nice to see sugar in a pot rather than offer sachets. As for bridgeton.. what bridgeton? Other than the rather lovely looking fake wisteria hanging from the ceiling and a few quotes on the wall it lacked atmosphere. Frankly just a bit meh. As for the hotel in general it’s showing its age it needs a lot of money spending on it, honestly I’ve been in better pub toilets that’s the ones in this hotel.
Show more...We hired the private dining room for a family birthday celebration. Our party consisted of 6 adults and 6 children of varying ages. The space was just perfect! The whole afternoon was amazing! The Sunday lunch was delicious and enjoyed by everyone. We were well looked after by Hari and his colleagues. I have no hesitation in recommending Colwick Hall to anyone looking for somewhere special to celebrate 🥂
Show more...Upon arrival at the hotel you are met with a scene from hundreds of years ago (a Georgian mansion with a fountain on the driveway). The interior doesn’t disappoint either, amazing. The reception lady was friendly and helpful and the room was huge, clean and did the job well. I will definitely stay here again.
