A stylish Georgian townhouse located in the heart Nottingham’s trendy Lace Market district. The Lace Market Hotel is the perfect place to stay whilst exploring the vibrant surrounding streets filled with historic buildings and plenty of shopping and entertainment venues. All the spacious and bright rooms at the Lace Market are individually designed and include flat-screen TVs, allergy-friendly bedding & minibars. Many of the rooms boast large floor-to-ceiling windows with spectacular views. The hotel offers modern gastropub dining & a fantastic range of local real ales in the Cock & Hoop Pub; where you can also enjoy a freshly prepared plated breakfast each morning. Additional facilities include free Wi-Fi throughout the entire building, as well as meeting rooms suitable for conferences or private functions.
Show more...Okay, so firstly as somewhere to stay overnight it was okay, but for okay I would have chosen a Premier Inn and was expecting something a little bit more. The rooms didn’t quite hit that boutique feel the website seems to impress upon you. But it was more the touches that let it down. Our room was freezing upon arrival, it was a cold time, the room was booked so why hadn’t the radiators been turned on. The staff on arrival were, again, just okay – wouldn’t have complained about them but didn’t exactly make me feel good about booking here. However, one are I do feel is worthy of complaint is the breakfast. Served in the adjoining pub upon arrival the staff were sat round a table chatting (other customers were in!) and we were forced to wait for that to finish before having a seat offered. The food was also below par both on the warm and limited cold offerings. Next time I am in Nottingham I will be trying somewhere else.
Show more...We needed a nice hotel for a one night stay after attending a performance at the Theatre Royal. For this the Lace Market was quite conveniently situated and not too expensive but we were disappointed. First impressions were slightly shabby and there was a general need for more maintenance in various areas. The sash cord for the outer glazing of our window had broken and the lower part was propped open with a piece of wood, rendering the inner glazing less effective as soundproofing than it should have been. The wooden surface around the sink was badly water-stained (a poor choice of material in a potentially wet area). The wardrobe was the narrowest I have ever seen and half-filled by an ironing board, iron etc, with very little shelf or drawer space. You certainly couldn’t settle in for a longer stay as a couple! The mattresses were not of great quality, making the beds a bit “saggy”. There was a huge ceiling fan that didn’t seem to work, plus a smaller desk fan AND an obtrusively large air-conditioning machine on the wall. I mean, how hot does it get in Nottingham? What really let things down was the breakfast experience. Breakfast is served in the hotel’s pub next door and it’s not really a very suitable space for breakfast - all dark wood and pubby furniture. A not particularly lavish buffet was laid out on a narrow table in one small room that had seating for just eight, while most of the seating was down a steep flight of stairs in another room. This made the carrying down of juices, bowls of cereal etc quite challenging and needed numerous journeys up and down. Every table was dominated by a big box containing four or five bottles of sauce, but it would have been much more helpful if the tables had been supplied with more important basics like butter and jams. I had notified them well in advance that I needed to eat gluten free and was assured that this was no problem. However, GF toast seemed to be as far as their efforts went – no cereal for instance, let alone any alternative to the croissants, muffins etc. I asked for this reason to have porridge instead of cereal as well as poached eggs and bacon with toast. This seemed to raise eyebrows slightly as they both came for the cooked menu. Both were then brought to the table together, when surely it should have been obvious that I needed them one after the other. So they took the savoury breakfast away to keep it warm and it was only when they brought it back that I realized they had forgotten the bacon. By then I had lost the will to send it away yet again. The culmination came when we were trying to enjoy a second cup of coffee and we were told that our table was needed immediately and we have to move to a separate part of the bar, with armchairs and drinks tables. There simply isn’t nearly enough seating for potentially more than 80 guests, so I can imagine that this is a frequent problem. So we left feeling that the overnight stay had added no real pleasure to our night at the theatre. Just a more or less adequate answer to a particular need.
Show more...Warm and welcoming hotel. Had a suite which was very elegant, complementary chilled Prosecco waiting for us in our room. Had afternoon tea which one of us is gluten free. The staff accommodate this very well- did not disappoint. Thanking Carl and Cristina for the fabulous dining experience. Spoiled for choice at breakfast- they cater for all. Hotel is centrally positioned and great for city/amenities. Will definitely visit again.
Show more...The service was excellent and the staff very attentive. There was unlimited tea & the quality of the food was excellent. There was almost too much - but we managed! I would highly recommend the banana Arctic Roll. The food was presented professionally & was appealing to look at. Highly recommended.
Show more...Arrived on a Saturday afternoon and had the afternoon tea. Was well looked after by Carl attending to our table. The food was really yummy a nice selection of sandwiches and you can tell it was homemade with good quality ingredients. Top votes for the banana artic roll 🤤🤤 Christina the chef checked in on the food which was also a nice touch 😊
Show more...Lovely afternoon tea experience with my sister. The cakes were amazing and the scones were crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle - just perfect. Thank you to chef Christina Victoria who took the time to talk to us. We would love to see you do an Italian afternoon tea selection and would certainly book again. Great way to spend a rainy afternoon.
Show more...A fun afternoon tea experience, the drinks kept flowing! Great ham and mustard sandwich and a lovely selection of cakes. We had early grey tea, and several pots of it. The staff were attentive without being over bearing and really helpful at all stages from booking to leaving. Would come again.
Show more...Afternoon tea booked by my husband as a treat. Sadly this was utterly over-priced and not satisfactory at all! We have been to better! Refills: told drinks were not re-fillable? I'm sorry? What? Vegetarian option: Cheese or cream-cheese. OK. I did not pay £40+ for cheese alone. Chef came to speak to us: firstly, induced disturbance. Secondly she concluded the lemon cake was freshly made: tasted completely shop-brought and sliced.
Show more...Went for afternoon tea on Friday 23rd February. The service was excellent we were made to feel special. The sandwiches were lovely. The scones were delicious, we asked the lovely pastry chef for the recipe, which she gladly wrote out for us. Her lemon drizzle is to die for as was her strawberry tart. We were served prosecco on arrival with a glass of water & a pot of tea once our food arrived. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. My only request would be to have a choice between the amount of savoury to sweet items. I have less of a sweet tooth so more sandwiches would've been my preferred choice. Having said that I enjoyed all the delicate well presented cakes we were served. Thank you for your hospitality, to the lovely gentleman who saw us to our table & chatted to us as he served us & the lovely pastry chef Cristina.
